Transforming our Views on Healing

Guest article by Donna Mineily

I used to think that being healthy was simply a matter of dealing with my physical body: Did I have aches and pains or a broken bone? Was my stomach upset? If part of my body was in a state of ill-health, I would seek a solution: get a cast on the broken limb, or take medicine to relieve the pain. However, some conditions are less visible and harder to treat, and may present challenges to conventional medicine. This frustrating dilemma often leads people to seek solutions in various forms of vibrational medicine.

When I was first introduced to homeopathy, it seemed magical. I couldn’t fathom how it worked. Then, I discovered Reiki and learned about the subtle energies circulating in our bodies that can be disrupted by various kinds of trauma (physical, mental, emotional). I learned to scan a body with my hands and sense where a person’s energy was “balled up”; then I could use Reiki to restore the flow of energy. The person would report feeling heat from my hands and I would sense a change in temperature once the energy “knot” was dissipated.

Reiki taught me to trust my intuition and listen to messages from the body. Learning about the chakra centers opened my mind to other sources of healing wisdom and the many other forms of vibrational medicine such as acupuncture, sound healing, flower essences and crystals. I learned we can use healing techniques not only to recover from injury but also to maintain a healthy state.

Vibrational medicine views our bodies as multiple interactive energy systems. Dr Richard Gerber has developed a model that illustrates how conventional medicine works with the positive space/time structure and the physical chemistry of our bodies while alternative healing modalities work with the negative space/time structure and etheric chemistry: “two different levels of chemistry and energy operate in two different space/time frames”(1). In between these two pathways lie the function and the subtle energy fields of our bodies.

Gabriel Cousens writes: “we, as human organisms, are a series of interacting multidimensional subtle-energy systems, and … if these energy systems become imbalanced there may be resulting pathological symptoms which manifest on the physical /emotional /mental /spiritual planes…. these imbalances can be healed by rebalancing the subtle energy templates with the right frequency of vibrational medicine.” (2)

When we consider the multi-dimensional nature of our bodies, we realize that maintaining a healthy state involves more than taking care of our physical body. Gabriel Cousens points out that “disease states can be detected at the etheric level before they manifest on the physical plane.”

A number of alternative healing therapies emphasize the importance of connecting the body, mind and spirit. Louise Hay’s book You Can Heal Your Body contains a chart of different health conditions that arise in our bodies, and belief systems that can underlie those conditions.

Visualization and meditation are effective ways to bring healing to our body. Meditation helps us tame our mind and diminish stress, which allows the body to engage its natural restorative processes. The Etheric Clearing Technique taught in IIT’s Transform Your Self course, helps us to heal ourselves at the etheric level, where our memories and thoughtforms are recorded. This technique guides us to visualize areas of our bodies that are affected by the presence of certain thoughtforms and clear away debris that is impeding our development.

Skeptics may criticize alternative therapies, but we still have a lot to discover about the true energetic nature of our bodies. If we are beings of light or energy that have taken on a dense material form, then how can we maintain health in all of our bodies?

Physically – We can supply our body with good nutrients, keep active, and protect ourselves from harmful environments.

Mentally – We can watch what we feed our minds and what influences our thinking.
Emotionally – Our feelings have tremendous influence on our overall health. Do we acknowledge these emotions and process them appropriately?

Spiritually – Do we feel connected to a creative force beyond ourselves?

Soul – How much do we listen to our soul’s preferences? Does it have to nudge us to make changes by producing health conditions that require attention?

Finding the most suitable healing therapy takes work and requires openness. We have to research and explore the options to see what our body responds to best. I believe that increased understanding of our bodies’ multiple interactive energy systems and vibrational medicine practices will lead to greater acceptance of these healing modalities in the future.
