Andrew Gohn, Senior Clean Energy Program Manager at the Maryland Energy Administration (MEA), develops and manages programs and policies that will accelerate deployment of wind energy technology in Maryland. He implements a number of grant programs, works to facilitate permitting and regulatory processes for wind energy systems and is actively engaged in planning for offshore wind energy off of Maryland's Atlantic coast. Andrew was the MEA staff-level policy adviser for the Maryland Offshore Wind Energy Acts of 2011 and 2012, and serves as the State point-of-contact for the BOEM State/Federal Offshore Wind Task Force. Andrew has a J.D. and a certification in Environmental Law from the University of Maryland.
Brian Kuhn, Managing Partner of Associated Wind Developers (AWD), is actively doing renewable energy project analysis and integration solutions. He was instrumental in developing AWD's 'Essential Utilities' consortium, bringing together wind, solar, grid stabilization, backup generation and water desalination technology partners in order to create applicable solutions around the globe. As past Chairman of the Plymouth, MA Energy Committee Brian was the principal author of 'Plymouth 2020', a plan which aims to derive 100% of the town's municipal power from renewable resources by the year 2020. He has testified in front of many governing bodies on the benefits of renewable energy, including the US Virgin Islands, where several AWD systems have also been proposed. Mr. Kuhn is a professor of Wind and Solar Energy courses at the Cape Cod Community College in Hyannis, MA.
Christopher Berendt, Counsel to the Drinker, Biddle & Reath LLP (DBR) Environmental & Energy Practice Group and head of the Environmental Markets Team, concentrates his practice in the design and operations of the energy and environmental markets. He counsels clients on the creation and capture of asset value on matters ranging from legislative and regulatory development and market strategy through investments, transactions, project development and financing. Mr. Berendt engages with clients at all stages of energy and sustainability project development. He assists in screening, structuring, developing drafting and negotiating projects and finance agreements for hosts, developers and investors. Mr. Berendt assists clients in integrating sustainability goals and requirements into their energy procurements, projects and enterprises navigating compliance and voluntary environmental instrument / commodity transactions, the retail power markets as well as all types of “green” certifications. He has assisted with pioneering efforts in the pooled origination, financing and securitization of clean energy project portfolios and to employ smart grid / microgrid technologies as dynamically managed load and onsite generation is becoming an asset in competitive power markets. Christopher was recently named to the CleanTech 100 by the LMG Clean Technology & Renewable Energy guide, the guide to the top 100 attorneys in the United States who practice in the clean technology and renewable energy space. Prior to joining DBR he was Vice President for Environmental Strategy, Policy and Markets at Pace Global Energy Services, a Siemens company. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, at Vermont Law School, where he was the environmental editor and a member of the editorial board of the Law Review. Chris has taught both graduate and undergraduate levels and has testified before Congress.
Terry Daly, Director of Project Finance at Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC), is an expert in lending and real estate. He launched the Center’s Clean Energy loan program, MHELP and a public/private partnership that produced $8 million in loans through mid-2013 with over 120 participating contractors. Terry manages the Center’s Clean Energy Capital Financing Program (MCAP); the Center's bond financing team works with municipalities, universities, schools and hospitals to develop projects and help to arrange financing and is able to finance energy efficiency and renewable projects larger than $2 million using tax-exempt bonds. Mr. Daly earned his Bachelor Degree in Business from the University of Delaware and an MBA from the Salisbury University. He served three years in the U.S. Army, completing his tenure as a Specialist 5. He spent 20 years as an adjunct professor at the Perdue School of Business, Salisbury University teaching management, statistics and finance.
