REDEEM YOUR REWARDS!

Get rewarded for riding RIPTA! Through the Rider Rewards Program, RIPTA is offering discounts at local businesses with the purchase of any RIPTA fare product.

RIPTA partnered with an array of great businesses to help promote the use of transit. Launch Trampoline Park, Dash Bicycle Shop, Roger Williams Zoo, and more have all agreed to offer specialized discounts for the RIPTA Rider Rewards Program.

In order to access these discounts, passengers must ask the driver for a rider receipt. Each receipt is good for one discount, at one location, for a one time use. The more you ride, the more opportunities you have to save. The rider receipt must be redeemed on the date marked on the receipt (the day of the bus ride).

Click here for a complete list of the businesses participating in the RIPTA Rider Rewards Program, their promotional offers, and more information. Businesses interested in participating in the RIPTA Rewards Program should contact Cristy Raposo, Marketing Coordinator at 784-9400x242 or craposo@ripta.com.

YOUR AQA QUESTIONS ANSWERED!

Our social media followers and fans have had a lot of questions about our Air Quality Alert (AQA) Program, so we thought we’d clear up some common misconceptions for you.

How is RIPTA offering free rides when they have funding issues?

The free rides offered to the public on AQA Days aren’t really free – they’re paid for by a federal transportation grant that is specifically targeted to improve air quality and by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), as part of their efforts to inform drivers about transportation alternatives and reduce the number of cars on the road.

It’s extremely hot today. Are buses free?

Just because it’s 100 degrees outside, doesn’t mean it’s an AQA Day. An Air Quality Alert is issued by the RI Department of Environmental Management (DEM) when ozone levels and particulate levels are high. High levels indicate that the air quality is poor. In fact, we could have an AQA Day in the winter if the fine particle pollution levels were high enough! We know you love the free rides, but Air Quality Alerts aren’t a good thing. To protect your health, improve air quality and save money, leave your car at home and take the bus often.

How do they know the day before it’s going to be an AQA Day?

The DEM has computer forecast models for ozone and fine particles, similar to what meteorologists use to predict the weather.
