Betsy

Betsy in the Adult Reference Department at Woodmere

Nice to Meet You

Betsy Myers, Adult Services Librarian at Woodmere, first joined the TADL team as an intern in 2000 while attending Northwestern Michigan College. Later that summer, she was hired as a substitute for the Sight and Sound, Youth Services, and Circulation departments. She then became part time in Circulation while she studied to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Grand Valley State University. In January of 2006 she was hired in the Reference Department where she focused on interlibrary loans, ordering audiobooks on CD and launched the library's playaway collection. In 2011 she was hired full time and added ordering adult fiction books, CDs and downloadable audio and ebooks to her responsibilities. "I love my job because I like working with and for people," she said. "I believe that literacy comes in many forms and I just want people to read in any way they are comfortable."

Betsy reads e-books on her phone, on her Generation 2 Kindle, and listens to audio books on CD in her car and downloadable audio on her phone. "I'm always reading at least two print books at the same time, depending on what room I'm in at home, sometimes three," said Myers.

Betsy, what are you reading?

"I'm listening to Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts. I'm reading the e-books Blood of the Prodigal by PL Gau and Harvest Moon by Robyn Carr. I'm also reading three print books Cold Weather Catalog by Robert Levine, The Bridge by Karen Kingsbury, and Barnyard in Your Backyard by Gail Damerow
