Nice to Meet You

Linda Smith has been working for the Traverse Area District Library at its Woodmere (Main) Branch since 1998. She started in the Sight and Sound department, then became manager for the Public Computing Center, and now for a little over a year, has been serving as the Teen Services Coordinator for TADL. She said she enjoys working with teens because they are so incredibly animated and intelligent.

Growing up in a large family on a small farm near Columbus, Ohio, Linda has fond memories of staying up all night reading and then regretting it when she had to get up early to tend to the farm.

Linda has spent time studying in Japan and lived in the Philippines for three years where she attended the University of Maryland Asian division. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from Excelsior College and is currently pursuing a Masters in Information and Library Science (MLIS) from Wayne State University, to be completed in May 2013.

Linda, what are you reading?

"I am always involved in multiple stories at a time. Right now I am reading A Beautiful Friendship by David Weber. I'm really enjoying the relationship between Stephanie and her telepathic treecat. I am also rereading Library Wars Love and War by Kiiro Yumi while I wait for the next volume to come out. While biking I listen to audio books. Right now it is Maze Runner by James Dashner."
