Who Controls Your Food? Stories from Venezuela to Brooklyn.

Sat, June 15th, 3:30pm - 6pm.

LaunchPad, 721 Franklin Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Welcome to the Brooklyn food movement: we shop locally, grow vegetables, raise chickens, and pickle everything. As we strive to take control of our food, how do these efforts fit into the global movement to reclaim the right to a healthy and sustainable food supply? What is the relationship between food justice and sovereignty in Venezuela and the United States? Join us for a screening of the award-winning film "Growing Change," which explores Venezuela's grassroots food justice movement, followed by a discussion featuring Venezuelan activist William Camacaro, co-founder of the Alberto Lovera Bolivarian Circle of New York; Tristan Quinn-Thibodeau, manager of WhyHunger’s Global Movements Program and active member of the US Food Sovereignty Alliance; and, Eric-Michael Rodriguez, educator, curator and farm manager at Weeksville Heritage Center in Brooklyn, NY. Join us for free food, drinks and a raffle with prizes from local businesses before the film!
