We're Here For You!

NMACP is an incorporated non-profit Association serving Community Action Agencies (CAAs) in New Mexico. NMACP is a charitable and educational organization with a mission to strengthen and expand the Community Action Agencies of our state through training, technical assistance, fundraising, collaborating and building strong, community-based partnerships.

NMACP and the CAAs in New Mexico (CSBG community) share a common goal: to end poverty. United, CAAs can ensure that the public and decision makers are aware of the needs of low-income New Mexicans, as well as community action's positive impact. NMACP exists to further this cause.

Los Lunas :: Head Start Success

The Mid-West New Mexico Community Action Program (MWNMCAP) is celebrating over 45 years of successfully operating a quality Head Start Program in Cibola, Catron, McKinley, Socorro, and Valencia counties. The Program provides comprehensive child development services to economically disadvantaged children and families, with a special focus on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills they need to be successful in school. In the 2011-12 Program year, 824 children were served.

MWNMCAP was recently recognized for its use of information technology (IT) to enhance its capabilities in supporting staff and families in remote locations. Grant funds were used to purchase a remote audio and visual surveillance system to monitor the classrooms and playground at Grants. The Agency was also recognized for its use of technology to consolidate data and communications by routing all site network traffic through the administrative sever, which allowed the Agency to monitor and assist sites remotely.

Las Cruces :: IDA Program

Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico (CAASNM) is implementing Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) to provide advice and support as families and individuals move toward economic security. An IDA is a matched-savings opportunity created to provide an incentive to save, invest, and accumulate assets among low- and moderate-income working families. Assets, such as a small business, help low-income families move up the economic ladder. Since 2006, over 1,200 IDAs have been opened in New Mexico, nearly 700 families have purchased their assets, and over 500 families continue to save each month.
