A Personal Savings Plan - It's Important

The first Mount Gambier & District Women's Business Network breakfast meeting will be held Wednesday 13 February 2013.

Join Tanya Coxon, Commercial Relationship Manager, Rebecca Miller, Senior Personal Banker and Melissa Kramer, Financial Planner with
ANZ Business Centre) to hear some interesting facts and figures on relationship breakdown and why a savings plan can overcome some of the financial worries.

“Women need to understand the importance of a personal financial plan so if they are faced with relationship breakdown, they can act wisely to secure a solid financial future for themselves and their families,” says Tanya.

We know that about half of marriages will end in divorce. And we know that, even in the short-term, divorce hits women particularly hard.

Recent statistics in USA show that women who divorced in the past 12 months were more likely to receive welfare assistance, more likely to be in poverty and more likely to have less household income than recently divorced men.

Did you also know that recent research by the Australian Institute of Family Studies found that some women were able to recover their income after six years through repartnering, increased labour force participation, and an increased proportion of income coming from government benefits.

“Every woman needs a solid plan for her economic well-being. Every woman needs to establish financial security before, during and after marriage – even though that process can be extremely challenging” says Tammy Whitehead, Chairman of Women in Business & Regional Development & Director of Glenara Transport & Whiteheads Timber Sales.
