July 2012

Is it really the end of July already? Time flies when you're having fun and cooking up a storm of new makeover recipes! This month, it's all about alfresco dining and enjoying fresh-picked produce under the sun and stars.

We started off the month with a redo of the classic Bisquick vegetable pie. Our Impossibly Easy Vegetable Pie Makeover features a veggie combo of broccoli and cauliflower and a multigrain baking mix as the base. It's an easy recipe for busy summer nights or a laid-back Sunday brunch.

Other creations from our blog this month include ...

Watermelon Sorbet Pie: If you are looking for a sweet and juicy summer party dessert, this is the recipe for you!
Ten-Minute Chickpea Salad with Feta and Basil: When it's too hot to be in the kitchen, try this no-cook salad from Michael Natkin's beautiful new cookbook, Herbivoracious.
Use the season's best cauliflower and your garden's freshest tarragon for a super family-friendly recipe for Cauliflower Casserole. It's from the new book, French Kids Eat Everything by Karen Le Billion. While you're at it, try her recipe for Five-Minute Fish en Papillote. We are GIVING AWAY one copy of the book, so visit our blog to enter.
Berry Biscuit Burgers: This recipe is a makeover of strawberry shortcake, and it hits the spot at family cookouts.
Janice appeared on the FOX TV Morning Show in Boston to dish about summer burger makeovers. Check it out!
Enjoy even more outdoor dining adventures with this recipe for Grilled Butterflied Leg of Lamb with Charred Green Onions.
We slimmed down Salisbury Steak (AKA Mystery Meat) and topped it with lots and lots of sauteed bell peppers and mushrooms! Try our Veggie-Topped Salisbury Steak cooked in a sauce featuring Holland House red cooking wine.
Our giveaway for the cute new cookbook, Muffin Tin Chef, is over, but you can still get the recipes for Broccoli-Mushroom Frittatas and Lemon Cakes with Blueberry Compote.

We're still offering our fans and followers a special discount on NO WHINE WITH DINNER: (usual retail price of $24.95.) Here's the offer:
* $17.50 per book + free shipping (U.S. only) when you buy single copies (1 to 9 books).
* $15.00 per book + free shipping (U.S. only) when you buy a case of 10.
