Jan - Mar 2014 Vincent Family Quarterly Update Maximizing Impact at Missionary Retreat Taking Action at IBYM Bible Conference Choosing Paths at IBY

Jan - Mar 2014 Vincent Family Quarterly Update

Craig made his first trip out of North America for 10 days at the end of March. I was the speaker for BCM Peru's 2014 Missionary Retreat which was attended by 37 missionaries serving in both the cities and jungles of Peru. I presented a seminar on personalities (God designs) and spiritual gifts (God assigns) which focused on avoiding and resolving conflict in ministry. The challenging material developed by Uniquely You Ministries was enthusiastically embraced by this intense team that reaches children through camps and campaigns and develops churches throughout the country. After discovering our gifts and understanding ourselves, we compared our graphs to look for potential areas of both strength and conflict. Pray for their leadership as they seek to be a grace-based ministry. Each day all the missionaries along with IBYM students play futball (soccer) at 5:00 PM. I joined in for one game before injuring my hamstring. After the retreat, we all enjoyed a 3 hour bus tour of Lima and a meal at, of all places, Pizza Hut.

After the Missionary Retreat, Craig taught each morning for 3 hours at the IBYM (Instituto Biblio Y Ministerio) Bible Conference. There were about 24 students (ages 16 -30). Many had come to Christ through the camps and campaigns and are now preparing to become pastors and missionaries. The institute has over 100 graduates serving the Lord in the country of Peru. Throughout the week, we looked at 12 normative characteristics for groups of Christians from all times and cultures found in the book of Acts and taught on very specific actions on how to live them out. At the end of the week, the students, working in groups, selected their own action words to teach on.

Craig's final responsibility before leaving the pleasant climate (high of 80 and low of 68), was to be the commencement speaker for IBYM's class of 2014. The 12 graduates were challenged to follow "The Guide" on the path they have chosen and make the internal adjustments that are necessary to stay on that path. From Psalm 32:8, we learned that this guide gives us clear direction with his eye upon us. I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to serve in this wonderful country with what was truly a tremendous example of a ministry of multiplication that effectively transitions children from lives of poverty into effective service.

We are very thankful for those who gave specifically for the Peru trip as well as those who are faithfully supporting our family's ministry at Streamside. We still need others to join our support team.

Give on-line at https://bcm21697.thankyou4caring.org/streamside or by mail to BCM International, 201 Granite Run Drive, Suite 260, Lancaster, PA 17601. Checks should be made out to BCM International.

Despite the trip to Peru, the ministry at Streamside continues. After a very busy winter retreat season (1255 guests and 5560 meals) which included 77 for Streamside's Winter Blast, we are focusing our attention on building up our spring and fall retreat usage. Through a new relationship with Retreat Central, we are aggressively reaching out to new potential retreat groups, offering them a free night in the Log Cabin as an incentive to take a look at Streamside. In the fall, we hope to introduce an all season tube slide called the "Turbo Tunnel" as a warm weather alternative to snow tubing. Pray that we will be able to restore a vibrant conference and retreat season that God uses as a ministry tool to develop churches.
