Finishing Touch Salon & Arbonne network event

On Wednesday evening, 10 July 2013, fifteen ladies joined Gayle Green of Finishing Touch Salon and Rachelle McKay of Arbonne Skin Care for a night of pampering and bling at the latest Mt. Gambier Network Meeting. Gayle shared her journey from florist, to car rental franchise owner, to how she ended up where she is today as a nail artist and owner of Finishing Touch Salon. Gayle introduced us to the benefits of her range of Shellac nail products, an instant dry, tough finish for those of us who find they damage their beautiful nails within 5 minutes of walking out of the salon. The attendees enjoyed browsing the many fashion accessories and bling available in store, taking advantage of the generous discounts on offer due to Gayle’s decision to slow down a little and close the retail shop and move back to being a home based business in the near future.
Over a lovely dinner at Gourmet India, Rachelle McKay introduced us to the Swiss range of Arbonne skincare, cosmetic and wellness products. Rachelle also outlined how she discovered the products and decided to become a consultant, combining her business with her career as a teacher. We enjoyed hearing from some of Rachelle’s customers and what products were their favourites and why, with the make-up primer being a winner with many. One lucky person took away a prize from a raffle on the night. Rachelle offers one-on-one appointments and pamper parties so you can have a fabulous night in with some friends.

Can my Mum change her Will as often as she likes?

Wills Estates

From our sponsor Andersons Solicitors: It is surprising how often we are asked this question! Often the kids have best intentions for their Mum, but there are a few things that should keep in mind.

Find out more on the LawTalk Blog, written by our Board Member, solicitor in Wills & Estate Planning, Catherine Clark.

It’s been six magnificent months now since we started working and playing with everyone at Women in Business together with their members, sponsors and supporters. A catalyst for our relationship was one of your Board Members, Catherine Clark who also happened to be one of our employees. If you’re not aware, Catherine finished up with us in June shortly prior to expecting a new addition to their growing family, to take up (at least for now) the rewarding experience of full time Mum. So after searching the South East far and wide, we’re excited to announce that we’ve found someone to pick up where Catherine left off. Barbara Younger starts with us in late July and for all those attending the Awards Night on 2 August, you’ll get to meet her there along with a couple of our team from Adelaide. As always, our intention is to be there for the people of the South East so for all your legal issues, remember to choose Andersons.

Jack Welch (former CEO of GE) once said:

“Before you are a leader success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others”

In today’s uncertain times, it has never been more important for businesses to have a leader who can clearly articulate the way forward in a way which inspires others to follow. However, in order to be such a leader, the person aspiring to fulfill such a role must first understand themselves and the way they impact on those around them. It is only through increased self-awareness that a person can truly start leading and growing others.
"The workshop is designed to provide the participants with improved levels of knowledge about themselves and the way they operate in a business environment. With a better understanding about themselves, they will be able to continue their personal growth in a way which will demonstrate leadership to others in business and ultimately success in the business," concludes Duncan Redman of Altus Q, Experiential Coaching.

Entrepreneurs Scholarship available - closing soon

Behind closed doors

Donny Walford and the team at behind closed doors are pleased to announce the opening of the 2013 behind closed doors entrepreneurs scholarship for female business owners and entrepreneurs in South Australia.

The behind closed doors entrepreneurs scholarship offers female business owners the opportunity to further expand their leadership and entrepreneurial skills.

Applications for the 2013 behind closed doors entrepreneurs scholarship close 5.00pm Wednesday 31st July 2013._

The scholarship takes the form of an annual membership in the behind closed doors entrepreneurs program conducted in Adelaide and valued at more than $7000.00.

The behind closed doors entrepreneurs program was created in response to a need for female business owners and entrepreneurs to have a support network where they can discuss strategies, issues and challenges in a totally confidential environment, while at the same time encourage each other to extend themselves further to achieve and succeed in their business ventures.

The program’s objectives aim to:

Deliver practical leadership and management sessions to generate more effective business owners and leaders.
Provide a confidential business owner’s support network.
Expand and broaden networks and business relationships.
Extend individuals personally and professionally.
Increase the expertise of female business owners and entrepreneurs.
Mentor peers to accept greater business challenges.
Encourage and support members to nominate for Board and committee positions.
Assist members to participate in awards programs such as the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

The winner of the scholarship will be assigned to a behind closed doors entrepreneurs group in Adelaide. The entrepreneurs groups are facilitated by Kylie Bishop, Loewn Steel and Terri Scheer, three of South Australia’s leading businesswomen. The group meets 10 times a year and each session runs for three hours from 12pm to 3pm in a boardroom located on the premises of our supporters and includes a light lunch.

For further information on how to apply for the behind closed doors entrepreneurs scholarship, along with the eligibility criteria, please refer to our website
