Yoga for a Quiet Loving Heart and Mind with visiting teacher Kira Ryder!

Northeast Studio

Friday, November 15: 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 16: 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, November 17: 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.

A 3-day workshop exploring yogic techniques for a quiet mind, spacious relationships, & loving kindness with the celebrated teachings of Kira Ryder, one of Yoga Journal's top 10 teachers shaping the future of yoga. An amazing opportunity to study with an unforgettable teacher. Not to be missed!

Friday: Yoga Techniques for a Quiet Mind

Yoga occurs more easily when the mind and heart find quiet. We will explore a sequence of easy asana, pranayama and meditation techniques to begin to develop an intimacy with this quiet that awaits you inside. The more time spent with the quiet, the easier it becomes to find. Accessible to all levels.

Saturday: Yoga Techniques for Spacious Relationships

According to the sages, our deepest heart desire is to feel connected. This longing makes it especially difficult for us to feel at ease when relationships appear to be disharmonious or difficult. We will blend asana, pranayama and meditation practices to develop skills of spaciousness, peace and sweetness within your relationships.

Sunday: Yoga Techniques for Loving Kindness

Like every other skill, loving kindness takes practice. We will attend to the relationship between the hands and heart. Blending asana, pranayama, meditation and mudra techniques, we will discover that loving kindness is already available inside of us. We just need to cooperate.

Cost: $108: Entire weekend, $25: Friday, $50 each: Saturday & Sunday

Yoga Foundations II: Build on the Strength Within

A Four-Week Workshop Series with Kate Busby

Thursdays at the SE Studio: 7:15 - 8:45pm

November 7 - December 5 (no class on Thanksgiving)

Southeast Studio

This four-week series is designed for anyone who would like to increase their knowledge and ability to accomplish the most common poses practiced in an all levels yoga class. It offers a thoughtful exploration of form, alignment and sequencing of the prominent but sometimes hard to access yoga poses in a supportive, question and answer environment. Each week we focus on what is most essential in different families of yoga poses, creating a strong foundation of alignment that you can build on as your practice evolves and progresses.

Week 1: Hip-Openers. Discover how to move from frustration to potential in poses like Warrior I and Pigeon.

Week 2: Standing Balancing Poses. Root into your inner stability in poses like Tree and Half Moon.

Week 3: Backbends. Open the gateway of your shoulders and hips to grow your spine in length and strength in Bridge.

Week 4: Inversions. Explore how to stretch open your heart and hold the strength of your center in headless headstand and other upside down poses.

About Kate…

Yoga endows us with the power of self-reflective awareness. It is a practice that gives us insight into the nature of our own inner workings, including our bodies and health. This enlivens everything we do, increasing our ability to recognize what is most meaningful to us and act in alignment with that. In this way, yoga instills within us a greater sense of our purpose and potential. This assertion is at the core of my teaching style. I utilize clear, precise alignment instruction alongside rich insights from yoga philosophy and natured-based traditions to guide my students into a deeper and more uplifted relationship with themselves.

Viva México! The Sacred Art of Sun Worship

In Sayulita, Mexico with Suniti Dernovsek & Jessica Garay

Have you ever felt
for anything such wild love –

do you think there is anywhere,
in any language,

a word billowing enough
for the pleasure
that fills you,

as the sun
reaches out,

as it warms you
as you stand there,

empty-handed–

mary oliver
