Policy Memo Tip of the Month

Haven't written a memo in a while? Not sure where to start? Try planning and outlining your memo before you write it. Here's a guide from the Global Debate and Public Policy Challenge that can help you organize your ideas.

Policy Memos in the Real World

The Olympics are almost here! With them comes not only sports and celebrations but also policy memos that explore their purpose and consequences. In this memo, Sochi 2014: The Political Economy of Russia's Mega Projects, the author succinctly explores three reasons behind Russia's interest in hosting the Olympics. Check it out! Do you agree?

Grammar Resources

University of Chicago's Writing Program has compiled a fabulous list of resources: quick grammar guides, usage guides, thesauruses and dictionaries, grammar myths, classic style guides, science and technical writing guides, and ESL resources. They update this annotated list periodically to keep it current, so check it out every so often.

Slang has its place, but when? Read this NYTimes article called "The Slang Patrol" for pointers.
