Dear Class of 2015 Families:

We are delighted that you will be joining us on Saturday, November 23, 2013, for our V Form College Day. The program will begin at 8:00 am with registration and a continental breakfast in The O'Brien Arts Center. We have included a schedule of events and other material we hope you find helpful with this letter.

The morning is designed to introduce you to the college process at St. Andrew's and to hear from several college professionals who will share wisdom from their side of the desk. They will discuss such essential questions as: how can one most effectively investigate colleges? What makes different colleges distinct from one another? How do college representatives read and discuss applications? What roles do courses taken, grades, essays, test scores, teacher recommendations, interviews, etc., play in their discussions? Overall, what approaches have they seen leading to searches that are both successful and positive experiences along the way? Our guests will share their thoughts and then open the floor to questions; we encourage you to come with your curiosity piqued and ready to engage in dynamic conversation.

Please visit our website for more information and resources.

There are fictional Common Applications that we will be asking you to evaluate with the guidance of one of our visiting admissions officers. You can find the applications by clicking here. We are making these available in advance to encourage you to take the time to read them before your arrival, allowing you to fully engage in the discussion and mock “admission committee” deliberations. You will want to bring copies of the applications with you on the 23rd. After the committee meetings, you will hear how each group read the files, and how they reached the decisions they made.

Please email Barb Samson (bsamson@standrews-de.org) or call her at 302-285-4227 to confirm your attendance. We are very excited about this day and hope that this program will be helpful to you and your child!
