RIPTA EXPANDS PARK N’ RIDE SERVICE IN WESTERLY TO MEET DEMAND

RIPTA is providing additional service on Route 95X (Westerly Park N’ Ride) due to growing demand.

Last month, RIPTA staff surveyed Park N’ Ride passengers in order to better understand when people need to travel, and what type of services they desire. Based on their feedback and the success of the “Beat Traffic, Try Transit” campaign, additional trips have been added to Route 95X (Westerly Park N’ Ride). An earlier 6:00AM Inbound trip will be available to Route 95X (Westerly Park N’ Ride) passengers. An additional Outbound trip has also been added departing at 4:03pm from Weybosset and Eddy Streets and departing from Exchange Terrace at 4:09pm. Click here for details.

IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO TRY TRANSIT!

The Beat Traffic, Try Transit program, launched earlier this summer, is designed to ease traffic congestion on the Interstate through Providence during peak travel times. Commuters can take advantage of discounted bus fares from select Park n' Ride lots across the state as well as free parking at select commuter rail stations.

Click here for a complete list of participating lots and more information on how you can beat traffic!

RIPTA IN THE COMMUNITY

STUFF A BUS FOOD DRIVE

In the spirit of holiday giving, help RIPTA, Panera Bread, Coast 93.3 and B101 “Stuff a Bus!” Our goal is to stuff a RIPTA bus chock full of non-perishable food and canned good items that will be donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Each person who donates will receive a special surprise from Panera Bread. Give back this holiday season.

Join us at Panera Bread on the following dates:

“STUFF A BUS” EVENTS:

Saturday, November 16 from 11a-1p
1000 Division Street, East Greenwich

Saturday, November 23 from 1p-3p
1000 Bald Hill Road, Warwick

Saturday, November 30 from 10a-12p
160 Old Tower Hill Road, Wakefield

Saturday, December 7 from 12p-2p
George Washington Highway, Lincoln

At last year’s Stuff a Bus Food Drive, RIPTA collected 2,993 pounds of food and $1,392 in donations. Every dollar enables the Rhode Island Community Food Bank to acquire 3 pounds of healthy food. So in total, the 2012 food drive resulted in 7,169 pounds of food for Rhode Islanders in need. Thank you to everyone who helped! Let’s beat that number this year!
