I want to first say that this week has been filled with tragedy, and my condolences and prayers go out to all of those affected by the Boston Marathon explosion and last night's explosion in Texas. The more I travel, the more grateful I am for the amazing opportunities that come my way and the unforgettable experiences that I live through. And in times like these, I am reminded of that even more and am ever more grateful. |

On a positive note, this week was also filled with some magical moments for Bare Feet™. I have been on the island of Aruba learning first-hand what makes this place so happy. Mickela's sister, Adriana Mallozzi, received the Hero Among Us Award this month at the April 3rd, 2013 Boston Celtics game - recognized by the city of Boston and nominated by Easter Seals Massachusetts, Adriana's achievements surpass most! Here was the incredible introduction she received before accepting her award:
"Having been diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, Adriana Mallozzi fully understands the challenges facing people with disabilities. |
"From the age of one, Adriana has been a part of Easter Seals and has made it her life’s mission to help others with disabilities foster independence and self-confidence. As a member of Easter Seals’ Board, she spends countless hours fundraising and mentoring. Adriana has also dedicated herself to the promotion and creation of assistive technology that improves the lives of people with disabilities.
"For her unyielding efforts to support others with disabilities, please welcome tonight’s Hero Among Us, Adriana Mallozzi!"

Mickela will be performing at the AIAE Fifteenth Annual Awards & Scholarship Gala on Sunday, April 28th at the Chateau Briand in Carle Place, Long Island. The AIAE (Association of Italian American Educators) has been a long-standing supporter of the Bare Feet™ project. As an alumna of the Programma Ponte Scholarship, awarded annually by the association, Mickela is proud to reciprocate her support for the program which sparked her passion for travel 10 years ago!
