Many people that build a log home on a basement finish off the basement into living space. Drop ceilings are the most practical ceiling application as it allows access to plumbing and electrical for the main level. This new WoodTrac ceiling system by Sauder uses normal drop ceiling track but makes it look like wood. Much better than the white ceiling tiles you usually see!

Do you have a slope in your yard?: GLH dealer Jeff Fore has to walk down several steps from his driveway to his home. To enhance the view while on the trip, he built this water feature next to the steps. Jeff used stones off of his property and a water pump to create a low cost, beautiful and natural use of his site. The gold fish really enjoy it too!

The Caroline floor plan is a very popular design. One option is to add a shed roof porch across the back. This photo shows a home in Colorado where they chose that option.

This Shenandoah model was built at Red River, New Mexico. They also built a large log garage which they stayed in while the home was being constructed.

Breeze 2

This is the interior component of the air conditioner. There is also an exterior component. The two units are connected by a small hose.

Central HVAC vs Radiant and what do you do about A/C with radiant heat? Most people prefer radiant heat to forced air heat because it is more efficient and "feels" warmer. The issue is how do you get air conditioning if you use radiant heat as you do not have central air ductwork. Not to mention the cost.

And who wants window a/c units?? San Antonio, TX based Friedrich Air Conditioning said its new line of Breeze ductless air conditioners are quiet, affordable and so easy to install it can be done by a homeowner. Priced from about $1599, they come in a variety of capacity models for spaces measuring 100 square feet to 550 square feet and from 550 square ft to 1500 square feet.

It is going to be summer time soon and time to enjoy the abundant facilities located in the Missouri State Parks. This shot is of the Twin Pines Conservation Education Center. (Named for the Pine trees that are on the property NOT the Oak museum that serves as the center.)

Answer to the Trivia Question: Tiny moth larvae inside them. Jumping bean moths lay their eggs in the flowers of a desert shrub called Sebastiana pavoniana. When the eggs hatch, the larvae eat their way into the seedpods. As the pods ripen, they drop onto the ground and split into three sections that resemble beans. When the larvae move around inside, they cause the "beans" to jump.
