Answer to the Trivia Question: Tiny moth larvae inside them. Jumping bean moths lay their eggs in the flowers of a desert shrub called Sebastiana pavoniana. When the eggs hatch, the larvae eat their way into the seedpods. As the pods ripen, they drop onto the ground and split into three sections that resemble beans. When the larvae move around inside, they cause the "beans" to jump.
