Hello Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your summer! It's only three months until The Governess of Highland Hall releases, and most days I'm working on preparing for the book launch as well as writing the next book in the series. Recording a podcast, giving input on a video book trailer, answering interview questions, and redesiging my website have kept me busy since my last newsletter.

Then on June 8th, I fell while working in my front terraced garden and broke my right ankle and foot. I'm still wearing the boot cast and using a knee scooter to get around the house. It's been a challenge! Thank you to all who have prayed for me and encouraged me. For more on that story, please visit my blog posts, My View From the Couch, and Life in the Not So Fast Lane.

Can You Spot the Changes Made to the Final Cover Design?

The cover designer for The Governess of Highland Hall did an awesome job capturing the heroine and mood of the story. The design on the left looked great, but I asked for a few changes, and they were kind enough to consider those ideas in the final version on the right.

Can you spot at least seven changes that were made to the final design? Some are quite small, so look closely. The first two people who email me with a correct list of changes will receive an Advanced Reader Copy of The Governess of Highland Hall. Please include your mailing address in your email. US addresses only. Good luck!

My Website Has a New Look!

It's Open House time at my redesigned website, and I hope you will stop by and see what's new. I've added more photos, recipes, and updated all the information on my books. You can listen to a podcast about the Governess of Highland Hall, watch a TV interview, and find links to connect with me on social media. I've redesigned it with you, my reading friends, in mind. Matt Jones and the team at Jones House Creative did a great job! I love the new look and features, and I think you will too! Come and check it out for yourself. Carrieturansky.com.

Carrie's Bookshelf

Here are the books are on my shelf this month:
What Once Was Lost, by Kim Sawyer: A woman meant to serve, a child in the dark, a man standing apart—can these three souls embrace a God with new plans for them? Kim is a good friend and award winning author. I always enjoy her books!

Forever Friday, by Timothy Lewis: Every Friday, a postcard. Every Friday, a love poem. Every Friday for sixty years. A beautiful debut novel, reminiscent of a Nicholas Sparks story. It think it will touch your heart.

Burning Sky, by Lori Benton: Abducted by Mohawk Indians at fourteen and renamed Burning Sky, Willa Obenchain is driven to return to her family’s New York frontier homestead after many years and must rebuild her life. This is a wonderful debut historical romance. All of these books are available at christianbooks.com.

Blueberry Pancakes

It's blueberry time in New Jersey! Here is one of our favorite ways to enjoy them. Makes 8 - 12 pancakes, depending on the size.

Ingredients:
1½ cups whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup water mixed with 1 Tablespoon of yogurt.
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
Extra virgin coconut oil

Directions:
Mix dry ingredients and add the wet ingredients. If it's too thick add a little more water. Gently fold in the thawed or fresh blueberries. Heat 1 Tablespoon of extra-virgin coconut oil in a skillet or pan over low heat. Increase temperature to moderate heat. Use about 1/4 cup of batter for each pancake. Add more coconut oil for each batch. Serve with warm maple syrup and butter or almond butter.
