Community Board 2 has received a copy of a letter dated March 12, 2014, from the United States Postal Service (USPS) to Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. The letter states:

This is written as a follow-up to previous correspondence concerning our search for a new location for the Pratt Station Post Office.

Below is a list of properties that have been reviewed as possible new locations for the Retail Services Post Office. This listing includes properties that are being considered as well as properties that have been rejected from further review and/or consideration.

Locations rejected from further review:
                130 Flushing Avenue — Location
                580 Myrtle Avenue — No space available
                394 Myrtle Avenue — Loading difficult, costs
                42 Clinton Avenue — No space available
                101-103 Steuben Street — Size too large and owner could not be reached
                176 Flushing Avenue — Size offered too large
                Navy Yard — No space available

Community Board 2 notes that the letter refers to 609 Myrtle Avenue as the possible future location for the "Retail Services Post Office." Letter carriers will not operate out of this building, if a lease is signed. A separate facility will need to be rented for sorting mail for delivery, or the operation will need to be combined with another carrier facility.
