A unique opportunity to dive headfirst into a productive environment exploring a non-text based theatre practice via a Lecoq-style method
Aimed at professional and semi-professional theatre makers, the workshop will explore how the actor in an empty space can use the body to create characters, spaces, emotions, poetry, and atmospheres, and ultimately tell stories – without words.
We will look at gestural language, mime, comedy, tragedy, chorus work, poetics and with this foundation search for new possibilities of non-verbal theatre that excites and fires the imagination.
The week will culminate in the creation of short devised performances that experiment with our newfound discoveries in a theatre without words.
The workshop will be lead by Nir Paldi, a writer, director, performer and co-artistic director of Theatre Ad Infinitum. Nir directed Theatre Ad Infinitum’s 'Odyssey', 'The Big Smoke' and 'Ballad of the Burning Star'; multi-award-winning productions that continue to tour in the UK and around the world.
