Amended Hope Centre Plan

The Hope Centre:

There are some major developments about to take place in Mutimbuzi village in Gatumba township, the home of the Hope Centre. Plans are already under way to construct a Medical Centre and a Vocational School/Skills Centre to support the many refugee returnees coming back into after many years in exile. There are also two remaining homes to be build to complete the first phase of the project. You can find out details on the Hope Centre on a dedicated website. www.HopeCentreBurundi.com

Child & Student Sponsorship:

War, hunger, disease and tragedy all take their toll of families and communities in the developing world. Those most vulnerable, the children, are often left trying to cope and without someone to help them it is tough if not impossible for them to make it. The children are of a wide range in age, some are at primary, some secondary and others making their way to college and university. To achieve their desired aims in their studies they will require support. Please consider sponsoring a child at school or a student at university and change their lives for ever.

Nyembuye Clinic Water Project:

In the image on the right Isaac, the water project construction manager turns on the water supply at one of the standpipes (which provide water for the local community) en route to the Nyembuye clinic. Now the community, the local school and the clinic have a clean, safe and plentiful water supply. We are grateful to Christian Engineers in Development for their involvement in the initial survey of this exciting project, and to the many donors who raised the required £15000 to complete on time and on budget.

MI Truck 03

Truck:

Thanks to 3663 who donated the truck and Kevin Dixon Commercials who funded its shipping to Africa we now have a consignment of shoes (500 pairs from Ward Walkers), computers from Dundee University School of Nursing & Midwifery, tools - thanks to Tools for Self Reliance (for the planned Skills Centre), bicycles, clothes and many other items. One lady (Paula Godfrey) put together a large consignment of shoe boxes crammed with gifts for needy children. Many people will benefit throughout Burundi when this truck arrives; the refrigerated truck itself is to be used to carry fresh fish and meat to needy communities in remote areas of the country.

Mission Medics:

A programme to train dental operatives has recently been submitted to the Burundian Government for approval, this will allow Mission Medics dental trainers to begin a series of training events over the next few years to train government medical staff in dentistry. Currently Burundi has 11 dentists for a population of 9 million people, most of these being in the city providing for those who can afford to pay. The new scheme will see 8 new dentists trained in tooth extraction and basic oral emergency care. Mission Medics is also keen to develop skills provision in all medical professions. If you are interested in supporting this vital programme, please get in touch with us.

Burundi kids

Children's Ministry:

There are so many children in Burundi; it has now become the most densely populated country in the world. Anywhere you go there are so many kids that it is impossible to ignore them. The children are around because their parents cant afford to send them to school, they are given little or no stimulation of any kind and so when a team of Children's workers appear to spend quality time with them, they very much appreciate it. If you are interested in Children's Ministry lease get in touch and we can connect you to a team to be deployed for a 2-3 week period in Burundi.
