Audition for Film and TV Workshop (Saturday, October 6th 2012, 11am-3 pm)
As a painter prepares a canvas or a musician tunes his instrument, so must an actor prepare to create art. Based on her studies with Sonia Moore of “The American Stanislavsky Theater,” with Sharon Chatten of “The Actors Studio”, in NYC, and her work as a professional actor in Theater and Film, Elizabeth D’Onofrio will be conducting a four hour Audition workshop. This workshop will consist of: A cold reading technique, on camera cold readings, critique, and monologue coaching. A local talent agent will be available the first hour to speak with you all about what is going on casting wise in SW and South Florida. Elizabeth will teach you how to prepare for you audition using her technique based on her studies alongside her brother, actor, Vincent D'Onofrio.

Price: $60, Materials: Bring headshot and resume, monologue if you have one. Sides for Cold Readings will be provided. Special Guest: Local Talent Agent

Improvisation (Tuesday, 2:45-4:15pm) IMPROV is the most exciting, challenging, and rewarding of all acting exercises! It encourages the performer to come out from behind the scripted words and react spontaneously, to explore your imagination and creativity to discover what works and what doesn't, and it stretches you beyond your realm of experience. Identify your obstacles, create believable relationships, fight effectively through conflict to get what you want, to make discoveries, and most elusive of all – it helps you get your timing down! IMPROV trains the actor to connect with that level of energy which sparks every great performance and to infuse your work with truth and conviction. This class is the most bang for your buck in developing your dramatic art! For all ages, $90 for 10 weeks, contact education@laboratorytheaterflorida.com to register

Acting (Tuesday, 4:15-5:45pm) Instructor Denyea Clarkson brings 30 years of theater, commercial and TV experience to this valuable course. The class is designed to challenge your current acting abilities, helping to further develop and enhance your skills through training, practice, and learning to take direction effectively. Exercises will include drama games, scene work, monologues, and IMPROVISATION! The class is geared toward those who participate, taking into account their goal in taking the class, their abilities, and experience level. Come and explore your talent, build your confidence, and develop your acting ability! For all ages, $90 for 10 weeks, contact education@laboratorytheaterflorida.com to register

In this level you will learn the basic ballet positions, concepts, and vocabulary of Classical Ballet by performing exercises at the barre and in the center. 24-Hour Playwrighting Project (Meeting Times TBD) Be part of this initiative to produce five one-act plays in a 24-hour period! Starting on December 7th, five playwrights will be given their assignments: they will have a theme, be assigned actors and directors, who must rehearse and stage a production by 8pm on December 8th.
