Please join us tonight for Intermission 1
7-9pm at RH Gallery.

Autumn Intermission is a collaboration with Opalnest featuring a series of performances which act as parallel happenings complementing the three major exhibitions opening this Fall at RH Gallery. Conceived by Gallery Director Rebecca Heidenberg and Opalnest Producer Helen Homan Wu, Autumn Intermission will provide a site-specific experimental platform to initiate a dialogue with the artists and the distinct architecture of the gallery.

Today marks the debut of the series with Intermission 1 inspired by RH Gallery's exhibition Hunting and Gathering, featuring composer Ben Vida and interdisciplinary artist Richard Garet, each performing solo acts to create an immersive sonic environment within the gallery space. Ben Vida is a Brooklyn-based composer and sound artist. He produces compositions that utilize analog and digital synthesizing technologies and focus on aural phenomena and sound localization. Ben has released over twenty records on such labels as PAN, Thrill Jockey, Drag City, Amish, Bottrop-Boy, Hapna and Kranky. Richard Garet interweaves various media including moving image, sound, multimedia performance, and photography. He constructs intimate spaces and immersive situations that draw attention to the processes of perception and cognition, and which activate sensorial, physical, psychological phenomena that reflect on the nature and experience of time.

ON VIEW NOW AT RH GALLERY...

Hunting and Gathering is a two-person exhibition featuring the work of New York-based Korean artist Myeongsoo Kim and Munich-based artist Wolfgang Ellenrieder.

The title of the exhibition reflects the process ingrained in the practice of both artists, in terms of hunting for images and gathering objects. Hunting blinds are the subject of Ellenrieder's new series.

For additional information, please view the press release.

The Savage Detectives is a group exhibition curated by artist Tyler Healy featuring the work of six New York-based artists: Jack Greer, Tyler Healy, Dean Levin, Sandy Kim, Evan Robarts and Peter Sutherland.

The title of the exhibition is borrowed from Roberto Bolaño's novel of the same name which tells a story of interconnected, ambitious writers who thrive on a utopian kind of madness.

"Anarchy, skate culture, eternal youth, apocalyptic optimism – these are just some of the words used to describe The Savage Detectives, an art installation curated by Tyler Healy that opens at RH Gallery today. Part Larry Clark’s Kids and part Ryan McGinley’s raw digital portraiture, the multi-media exhibit brings an inherently New York approach to the subject matter of youth as art. Six local artists contributed to the show: Jack Greer, Tyler Healy, Dean Levin, Sandy Kim, Evan Roberts and Peter Sutherland. Three of the artisans – Healy, Levin and Roberts – actually share a workspace in The Brooklyn Navy Yard, resulting in a conversation between the pieces, not only in the gallery, but in their original birth and creation as well."
