Dear Families,
We hope you had the opportunity to relax and connect with your family over Thanksgiving break. We've had a short but busy week on campus as students have hit the ground running in classes, new afternoon activities, and catching up with friends.

The next three weeks are packed with events to celebrate the holidays. I'll be doing my best to stay ahead of the flurry of activity and keep the online calendar updated.

Please take special note of the orchestra performance on December 14th at 7:30 p.m., and the Service of Lessons & Carols on December 16 at 2:30 and 5:00 p.m., featuring the Choral Scholars. We encourage parents and friends to attend the 2:30 p.m. service.

Happy Founder's Day!

PS - We held our Founder's Day chapel on Wednesday with Tad delivering remarks that elicited several "pin drop" moments from the students. You can listen here.

In the Library

The librarians have challenged the students to come up with their own Spine Book poem to be voted on by their peers.

Entrants must form a poem using the titles printed on the spines of books they find in the library. The writer of the poem with the most votes by December 14 will receive a festive gift from the library and the admiration of his or her peers.

The librarians issued the challenge with a poem of their own:

Spine poetry

The story of a shipwrecked sailor,
a long way gone.

We are so proud of our own Lhagyari Trichen '13 who delivered a talk at TEDx Beacon Street in Boston over Thanksgiving Break. Trichen shared an excerpt from his film, "My Country is Tibet" and then offered his views on Tibet, living in exile, and his hopes for the future of the region. You can learn more and watch his talk on the TEDx Beacon Street Livestream channel (his talk begins at approximately the 3:01:00 mark).
