Happy Thanksgiving week Travailians,

We have a lot to be grateful for this year, so thanks for being apart of all the awesomeness. This is a week we like to give our Travail family some time off, so we wanted to remind you about the holiday breaks at the restaurants.

Pig Ate My Pizza is closed all of this week (11/26-12/2) and back slinging pizzas at 12noon on Tuesday, December 3rd. UMAMI by Travail is open for dinner service tonight and Wednesday (11/26 & 11/27) and then closed for the remainder of the week and back at it on Wednesday, December 4th. Tickets for all of December will go live tomorrow at 10am via Tempo Tickets.

Speaking of UMAMI we have another big announcement to share, we are wrappin up its final month as Minnesota’s first extended, full-service pop-up restaurant. The current UMAMI by Travail pop-up will be ending service on Sunday, December 22nd, 2013. While this pop-up might be over our love for this neighborhood, North Minneapolis, and the UMAMI concept are not!

We have decided that December will be the final month of the UMAMI pop up in North Minneapolis. We are not leaving because the business was unsuccessful, but rather because its success came at time when the organization was already overextended. The Asian comfort food turned dim sum restaurant was busy and buzzworthy and it demanded too much of the team's resources in terms of chefs, kitchen equipment, time and energy. With the upcoming launch of the new Travail and The Rookery, it turned out to be more than a manageable side project, so we have made the decision to pull in the reins, put the UMAMI concept on the shelf, and free up the 904 West Broadway space for another community-owned restaurant.

We received so much community support to make this project possible and strongly believe this area will continue to embrace a much needed sit down restaurant. We encourage other restaurateurs and entrepreneurs to consider the opportunity to fill this gap in the market. Along those lines we want to thank a number of organizations whose collaboration and support were integral to our success, the West Broadway Business and Area Coalition (WBC), the Minneapolis City Council, including Council members Don Samuels and Diane Hofstede, City of Minneapolis staff, Sherman and Associates, and the community living and working in North Minneapolis.

Tickets for the remaining dates at UMAMI will go on sale via http://www.tempotickets.com/travail on Wednesday, Novemeber 27th at 10:00 am. We will continue to offer All You Can Eat Dim Sum Wednesday- Saturday for dinner and for brunch on Sundays. UMAMI will continue to have limited walk-ins and take out during open hours.

Tickets and Dates are as follows:
Wednesday and Thursday (Dec 4,5,11,12,18,19) 5:15–9:00pm, $30 ticket +service fees for All You Can Eat Dim Sum, ticket prices includes food, tax and tip.

*please note we will no longer be doing Saturday Brunch.

Construction on the new Travail Kitchen and The Rookery is moving along well. We will continue to send updates as we have more firm information, but it is looking like we will be hosting our soft-opening just after the New Year and we will launch directly into full service dining after that.

Again thanks for being such a fun crew to serve and hang out with, it makes us blush a little thinking of all the love we have received this year. Have a happy and safe turkey day!
