Our favorite Blues Jew, the legendary Reb Lazer Lloyd Blumen, will be at the Khan of the White Donkey in Tzfat TONIGHT (Wednesday, June 27th). The show should start sometime after 9pm and if you're in Tzfat, you should come to the show in person! Our DJ MAYA ("Maya's Music of the Night" - Mondays 9pm - 11pm Israel time) flew the coop - she went to Amsterdam to fulfill her lifelong dream of seeing PEARL JAM in concert not once, but three times in a row. Will she ever come back? We don't know! If she gets to meet the Band in person we are concerned with whether or not that will put her into a state of such bliss that someone might have to fly to Amsterdam to rescue her. Let's just pray for her health and safety (and frankly, the health and safety of the Band whom, if they meet Maya in person, may never recover!). Meanwhile, STEVE gets to "play Maya" this coming Monday night from 9pm - 11pm - he's covering her show and probably will play all the tunes he wishes Maya would play while she's not there. I have long had a vision of creating a music style that blended seamlessly all the varied styles I love. I grew up on Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Brahms, alongside Rap, Grunge, Jazz, Ragtime, and electronica. The music I compose is related to Jeff Buckley, Bjork, Chris Elliot, Biggie, CocoRosie, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Snoop, Radiohead and Stevie Wonder, Beirut, and Tom Waits, with phat beats underneath beautiful powerpop compositions.
"A Precious Despair" lyrically explores the iconic notion "There is nothing as complete as a broken heart." The tracks in the album begin in a very solitary place. Yet as the work develops, a certain crossroad is reached. Visions of a world made truly real meet a harsh paradigm. Physical poverty, sexual inferiority, love lost, and dead dreams: These narrow straits cradle the river of APD's lyrical space. As the album progresses we hear an interweaving of a wider message: a sense of a mutual global voice, and as the album reaches its crescendo, wonderment and ecstatic realization is born from the ashes of "Despair." A charge for really validating, and truly living a deeply desired life.
After a lot of experimentation I am near completion of this recording opus, this album close to the finish line. The album: "A Precious Despair." To produce this cleanly, A Precious Despair requires ten more full studio days. Three for guitars, three for final vocals and backing vocals. One piano/Drums, and one full drums day. Two days for premixes. A total of $2500, ($160 studio, $90 Musicians), is currently outside my own ability to self fund. IN our age of numbness, three chord pop and emotional suicide ...the world needs an album this powerful, on a harmonic level, from a writer clued in to something lost, something we need.,,

Summer is a challenging time of year for us. First of all, the weather is hot hot hot and so are our computers, we're trying to keep our broadcasting equipment cool by keeping the fans blowing on them all the time (Steve's favorite line to Lorelai "Just become one with the heat!" doesn't work on our computers). Secondly, we still haven't raised enough money to help Steve buy a new broadcast laptop so the "substitute" machine he's using (an old workhorse desktop with a processor that was new in the last century) threatens to give out on him any minute (and frequently crashes, much to the annoyance of Steve, Maya and Brian who all use that machine for broadcasting). But - we believe, Oh yes we believe HELP IS ON THE WAY - because we have faith - in HKBH, and in our RFN friends, fans & family. If you can throw some spare change into our virtual guitar case on our web page (that's where you'll find our PAYPAL ICON) it would go a long way towards helping us out!
