Hi there! It's been a busy week for us as volleyball season has swallowed us whole. Still, I enjoyed these useful email tips and this pretty much sums up the way I feel about books. It seems I'm not alone.

As always, thanks for subscribing and letting me drop by with some extra tips this week. Enjoy!

1. Blogging time management

In case you missed it, I started what will probably be a 4-part series about blogging time management this week. I'm in a season of life that has required me to drastically cut down on blogging hours so I'm writing it for myself as much as anyone else. Here it is: Blogging Time Management: The Main Question.

2. A great way to get exposure for your blog

A few weeks ago I had the honor of telling my blogging story on Kat's new blog HowTheyBlog.com. She has highlighted many bloggers and all have shared what their behind-the-scenes blogging process looks like. This week Kat made an open call for submissions. HELLO! Huge potential to get exposure for your blog! Who doesn't want that? You can find her instructions and submit your story here.

3. The art of word-of-mouth

There's a post I read recently called What Makes Word-of-Mouth Work? and it's good. Here's a tidbit:

As an author, do you give your readers a reason to talk about your books? Word-of-mouth doesn’t spread by itself. You literally have to give people legitimate reasons to tell someone else about your book. If you don’t, no one will say anything.

Obviously he's writing to authors, but the 5 tips he includes in the rest of the article can be applied to just about anything. The bottom line? If you want people to spread the word for you, make sure your product/ebook includes one of these angles: emotion, uniqueness, instructions/results, shock value or a great price. Get the details and read the whole article here.

4. How your mailing list may be hurt by the new Gmail tabs

A few useletters ago I linked to my post about the new Gmail tabs and how you can get rid of them if you don't like them (like me). On Facebook, a lot of you mentioned that you love them. As a Gmail user, I say, do what works for you! But if you have an email list, you definitely need to understand why the tabs are not ideal. Kristi Hines from Kikolani has a great post about it along with ways to educate your mailing list: Why You Should Care About Gmail’s New Tabs as a Blogger, Marketer, Freelancer, and a User.

Liked these tips? Feel free to share this useletter (links above) or forward it to a friend (link below).

Thanks so much for hanging out!

Amy
