A message from our 2014 President…
Charlotte Britton
Welcome back to a new year of art activities. We look forward to seeing your work in the Mini Art shows, (themes are listed on the website here.) and to visiting at our monthly meetings. The Art Association has grown over the years and we appreciate your participation.
Eileen Libby has invited a variety of artists working in photography, drawing media, pastel, oil/acrylic and watercolor as program presenters. We will also have a talk about Matisse by a museum docent! Thanks to the miracles of modern technology and Sue Collins’ efforts in getting some new equipment for us, you should be able to see from any part of the room!
Speaking of technology thanks also to Joanne Taeuffer for putting the Palette online and to Joanne and Sue and others for the blog which keeps us all up to date with visual art activities of our group.
You are urged to join in and be part of exhibits and events scheduled for the year. We have at least one group exhibit (at EC Library) with a theme and hope you will want to start work on something for “Paws to Read.” There are new DMV exhibits coming up and members of ECAA are showing at our other venues, El Cerrito Community Center and Payn’s Stationery on Solano Ave.
There may be other smaller group shows plus the Annual Exhibit scheduled for the first weekend in October. Many thanks to Jean Witzke for continuing to work on this!
If you want to “get out and do it on location,” the Outdoor Art Group is meeting weekly at sites in and around El Cerrito. Artists working in almost any portable medium including painting, drawing, and photography are urged to participate.
Schedule of locations is published on our website and in the newsletter.
Thanks to all of you who volunteer for all kinds of jobs and offices. Most importantly to me, ECAA is a way to make local art friends. It makes me very happy to be part of the Art Association.
