Hey everyone. Just thought I would let you know I made it to Africa! My mom and I have been here for about a week and we have been very busy working on my school mural project. Everything is going very well and we hope it will continue as such. We have made serious progress painting the mural in the last couple of days, and all the people here are getting more and more excited to see it finished, as am I. I love it here and I am so glad we have been able to come. I am learning so much about everything and I am making lots of new friends.
I am a high school senior at Liberty Bell High School in Winthrop, Washington, doing my senior project in Uganda, East Africa. I am painting a mural on the walls of a village church, which is under construction, with the help of local church members.
Below are some pictures of our mural in progress.
My grandmother, Margaret Nelson, has been a nurse missionary in Uganda for the past 14 years. By going and working with her on this project, we have been given the opportunity to travel, experience new culture, and learn more about art. She is going to fly home with us in April for her next furlough. Click on her picture to the right to see her interesting website.
