Hey Friend!
For those of you who are new, welcome to the monthly newsletter!

December is here and I hope that you are getting all your decorations up, gifts picked out, and you're full of Christmas cheer! Our tree has been up for about three weeks now and we've been singing Christmas songs for about a four; we LOVE Christmas!!!

This month we have a few cool things we wanted to put out that will definitely make the holidays like photography tips, a visit with past clients, and our Q&A with a Professional.

In The News

Featured in Style Me Pretty
Back in June we had the opportunity to shoot the wedding of Tara and Kurt in Ameilia Island, FL. With personal touches done by Tara, family and friends, a beautiful background unfolded that painted a natural vintage feel. To see the featured wedding click HERE

Photography Tip

Capturing the Holidays Naturally
Some of the most amazing shots that I have been able to take of BA have been the in-between moments. It's those moments right after he notices my camera and right before he goes back to doing whatever he was doing. Those are the real moments, of who he really is. Yes, I love the smiles where he is looking at the camera but when I think of him, I think of his actions and that prompts me to shoot in that manner. In this tip/challenge, take pictures of the moments. Remember, go ahead and take the picture that your subject is expecting, but don't put the camera down...give it a second or two and when they get back to their "doings", then grab another shot.

For those with kids you will thank yourself for doing this. As they get older you will want to remember those times.

Photography School
What is the one gift that you've wanted to get for yourself or have hinted to someone about? A camera! And when you finally open that box and realize what it is you are so filled with joy! But then you say to yourself "how do I work this thing", or maybe you have had it for a while but still haven't figured it out. In January, I'll be doing another class on the basics of how to work that contraption. The class will be geared towards the person who knows nothing about it, as well as the basics of shooting on manual. If you are interested, let us know and we will keep you informed on the dates to come.

Featured Wedding

Jennifer and Dan
Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to photograph Jennifer and Dan and get to know them during their engagement session. A few things I learned about them was their love for each other was strong enough to last through long distance, they both have contagious smiles, Jennifer's love for country music matched Dan's Texas born heart Jennifer was getting to marry a guy with the coolest job, he gets to ride in an F-15 jet. You can't help but fall in love with these two, which is something that so many family and friends had done. Jennifer's theme for the wedding was based on Blake Shelton's song "Honey Bee" which she added subtle elements from gift honey jars, sweet iced tea, to the ceremony being under a large shade tree, all this matching their country style. One element they could not leave out was the new life that Jennifer and Dan had before them in the Air Force. They incorporated this by having the groomsmen wear their uniforms, the arch of sabers and by having a map that guests could sign of where their new home will be and their next duty station.

To View Their Wedding

Featured Past Client

We wanted to check in on one of our couples this month that is celebrating their 2nd anniversary this month and see how things are going with them and what they have been up to!

Who are you?
George and Jenna King

How long have you married?
2 years on December 9

How has married life been?
Married life has been a wonderful adventure so far!

How has life changed since the wedding?
Life has become much busier since our wedding.

What are you doing now?
Jenna is a stay at home wife starting her adventure as a consultant for the Pampered Chef. George is starting his career in the military.

What is one thing you’ve learned about marriage so far?
Compromise. You can't both be right at the same time. It's not always fun to give up what you want but most of the time it's for the best.

What is one piece of advice you have for couples planning weddings?
Don't let the stress get to you. At the end of it all your wedding will be the perfect day, no matter what, because it is the day you get to marry your best friend!

What is your favorite thing to do for Christmas?
We love to spend time with our family. We don't get to see our families all the time since we don't live close by. The holidays are a time that we get to spend with them and we always cherish it.

Parting question, give us your most favorite Christmas movie.
Our favorite is The Muppet Christmas Carol. It takes us right back to childhood.

Q&A with a Professional

This month we wanted to do a Q&A with Reanne Culver of LeRae Events & Design to get an insight on what makes her and her team come up with amazing one of a kind designs.

Who are you? Rae Culver, owner of Le Rae Events and Design

What does your business do? We offer design, styling, catering, and florals for weddings and events. We also just recently added a barn venue to the list!

What is different about your business? We like to think we offer unique design and personalization to a couple's day. We love the details!

What is your favorite flower? Do I have to choose?? This week it is Dahlias but next week it could be peonies. And, I do love some David Austin garden roses!

How did you get started? My mom has been catering for as long as I can remember. Somewhere along the way, I became everyone's go to girl for parties and weddings. In 2010, my friend Leah and I helped our BFF with her wedding. We did it all from start to finish. After getting rave reviews and having a blast, I called Leah and said, "Hey, I've got an idea".

What do you love about your business? We love seeing the look on the bride's face when she sees her bouquet, her ceremony, or her reception for the first time! It also never hurts to hear people say, “How did you come up with that idea?”.

What is your favorite quote? As corny as it may sound, I do love George Bernard Shaw's "You see things; and say, 'Why?' But I dream things that never were; and say, 'Why not?'"

When you’re in design mode, what are you thinking about? What can we use in a way that will blow people's minds?

What is one piece of advice for couples planning a wedding? Don't skimp on your photographer and be original!!!! Oops sorry that was 2! ;)
