A Few Recent Projects from Hands On New Orleans include:
HandsOn-Red Cross 9/11 Day of Service:
Volunteers worked in teams going door to door with preparedness information from our partners at the Southeast Louisiana Red Cross to help ensure the safety of New Orleans' Central City and 7th Ward residents in times of disaster.
Hurricane Isaac Response and Recovery:
As residents of New Orleans and its neighboring parishes pull together to recover from the effects of Hurricane Isaac, HandsOn New Orleans launched an online Volunteer Opportunity Calendar and will host a statewide, virtual Volunteer Reception Center. HandsOn New Orleans is certified by the Louisiana Serve Commission to act as the official Volunteer Response Center for southeast Louisiana during emergencies. Since the storm, HandsOn New Orleans has reached out to several nonprofit partners and other groups seeking support to compile post-Isaac recovery project opportunities in one place.
NOLA for Life Day on July 14th:
The Day, designed to rally residents around anti-violence and quality of life initiatives in New Orleans, was not just centered in Central City; NOLA for Life volunteers were also out in the Seventh Ward at Hardin Park, led by Rebuilding Together
