Creativity: The Seeker's Journey

Lately the Susan Spiritus Gallery newsletters have featured photographers from far away lands (Japan, and Korea) and others from Texas, New York and Northern California, but it's time to zero in, closer to home, and feature my long time friend and photographer, Larry Vogel.
Larry's artistic career began in 1976. Since then he has become a multi-talented artist using several mediums to pursue and express his creative explorations, including but not limited to photography, ceramics, painting and sculpture.
Besides being a working artist, Larry also spends much of his time educating others by offering workshops, field trips for on location shooting or jurying local competitions -- all which boils down to his desire to share his wealth of knowledge.

The Author

Larry Vogel has written, designed and self published a book on creativity, "Creativity: The Seekers Journey", 2007. The book has eleven chapters which take the reader through the stages of creativity and inspiration. The author has included more than one hundred quotes in the book which provide inspiration for the reader and support for the text he has written. In addition, each chapter features one of the artist's photographs.
It was an honor to write the afterward for the book, in which I state, "Larry Vogel is perhaps the most creative artist I know." This still holds true today. It is my pleasure to introduce you to this remarkable artist!

The Photographer

With a career spanning 37 years, Larry Vogel has tried it all - and succeeded at it, I might add, from working with film and darkroom techniques to digital expertise!
Bodies of work include: Spectrum Suite, SkyTouchesWater, WaterWorks, Return to the Land, The Mask Series, Paris Streets and most recently, Random Explorations which are available in limited editions of 3.
