May 3-5 Fine Art, Film Festivals & Fun

This weekend in Fredericksburg is sure to delight the creative mind. The Hill Country Film Festival rolls out the red carpet with more than 50 independent feature and short films, panelist discussions, filmmaker parties and more Thursday through Sunday, May 2 through May 5.

Fredericksburg fine art galleries also will give a red-carpet welcome to visitors during First Friday Art Walk Fredericksburg on Friday, May 3, as participating art galleries stay open late, host show opening receptions, serve Hill Country wine and more.

Music lovers can enjoy a number of live performances scheduled throughout the weekend, including the Rockbox Theater Country Music Tribute Show on Saturday, May 4, honoring country greats like George Strait, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and Kenny Rogers and the Maifest German Chorale Concert on Sunday, May 5, at historic St. Joseph’s Halle.

May 10-12: Mother's Day Getaway

Fredericksburg is the perfect place to take mom and the whole family. Shopping, fine dining, celebrations and vineyard luncheons are just a few of the many great things to add to your Mother's Day weekend itinerary.

Run through fields of blossoms during the Texas Flower Country Women’s 5K/10K at Wildseed Farms, on Saturday, May 11, and be rewarded with a champagne brunch.

Or head to the family-friendly Founders Day Celebration, where you can learn all about the early days of Fredericksburg on Saturday, May 11, at the Pioneer Museum.

If you’d prefer to simply relax, make memories at the Mother’s Day Luncheon at Becker Vineyards on Saturday, May 11, or Roses and Rosé for Mother’s Day at Pedernales Cellars, on Sunday, May 12.

May 13-19: American Craft Beer Week

Fredericksburg is famous for its award-winning Hill Country Wine; but this week, it’s all about the Bier. Meet the brewers and celebrate American Craft Beer Week with the Fredericksburg Brewing Company, Monday, May 13, through Sunday, May 19.

Then the weekend can be summed up with fine art, fast cars and fabulous music. The Oil Painters of America National Juried Exhibition at Insight Gallery unites artists and art lovers from across the nation from May 18 through June 17, including an awards reception Saturday, May 18.

Then check out some of the coolest street rods and enjoy live music at the Lone Star Street Rod Association State Run at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, Friday through Sunday, May 17 through 19.

More live music hits Marktplatz when the Marshall Ford Swing Band performs as part of the free PCAA Concert in the Park series on Sunday, May 19.

May 24-27: Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend in Fredericksburg is all about history and celebration. The National Museum of the Pacific War’s Pacific Combat Zone will come to life Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26, as uniformed re-enactors recreate a Pacific War battle. The National Museum of the Pacific War will then host a Memorial Day program on Monday, May 27.

From the Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival, which runs all weekend long at Marktplatz, to the Luckenbach Texas Birthday Celebration and USO-Style Hangar Dance at the Hangar Hotel, it's the beginning of the summer festival season. Come celebrate with us!
