It's been a simply awesome week for athletics. On Saturday we dedicated the new Durkin Fleischer Squash Center where captains of the boys and girls team, Nick Desroiser, Z Roach, Pep Ruckpanich, and Celeste Lancaster, spoke eloquently about how the new courts have completely transformed squash on campus on the varsity level, but perhaps even more significantly at the jv level with more court time to practice and a greater sense of pride the facility has helped instill.
Janee Dennis '14 broke the girls basketball record for most 3-pointers in a career, hitting her 71st 3-pointer last Friday. The team boasts a 7-3 record at the season's midpoint.
Boys varsity basketball beat the #1 Sanford Warriors in front of a capacity home crowd this week. Sanford has only lost 4 of their last 58 games to in-state opponents, with the last two coming at the hands of the Saints. You can watch highlights here.
Boys and Girls swimming sit at a combined 8-2 with decisive wins against conference rivals Tatnall, Sanford, and Tower Hill. The boys have been able to do this despite having only having 11 swimmers, including five III Formers. DISCs will take place on February 2.
Wrestling is fielding one of its biggest squads in recent years with 21 wrestlers working toward DISCs on February 9. They currently sit at 3-2 with big wins against Tower Hill and Archmere Academy.
Go Saints!
