2012 Mystery Quilt Banner 877x300

The game is afoot my dear Watson!! Okay, we may not be investigating in the streets of London, but we are truly excited to announce something new here at Quilted Thimble Cottage...the 2012 Mystery Quilt!! It is a Block-of-the-Month, with a twist! We will provide you the materials and pattern for each block, along with some filler blocks - the catch? We do not show you the overall quilt, or even where this months blocks will be placed in the overall quilt. Let the mysterious FUN begin!

.....OK, OK....we can tell you that most of the fabrics you see in the picture above are from the Butterscotch and Rose collection by Fig Tree & Company, and are the basis of our color palette for this quilt. They are full of rich tones and detailed prints, and we will be pulling fabrics from all over to build this quilt throughout the year. The quilt finishes at 66" x 76".

We will be releasing our first block on Saturday, Jan 28th. Feel free to come anytime to pick it up, either on Saturday or through the week. The 2012 Mystery Quilt is $90. This includes the pattern, fabric, 20% off the quilting when you finish it up! You can choose to pay it all up front, or $30/ month for the first three months.

We hope you will join us for this new project!

Longarm Sale January

Do you have a special project in the works for Valentines Day? Perhaps a project that would look great with a meandering heart quilting design? We are excited to offer you 20% off the longarm quilting when you use one of the three longarm quilting designs above. This is the first in a new series we are starting in 2012 where we will feature three designs a month inspired by the holidays and traditions of that month! First up...February!

A few exclusions apply. The discount is only off the quilting design, and does not include charges related to piecing the backing fabric, needle & thread charges, or binding services. The $40 minimum quilting charge will still apply, but we will take the discount off of that.

Good Fortune by Kate Spain tag
Good Fortune

We have been getting in some of the incredible fabrics that were shown at Fall Quilt Market - and Jenn has a soft spot for the bold and bright prints of Kate Spain's new Good Fortune collection. Here is how Kate Spain describes her new line:
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom as you take a leisurely stroll through this springtime water garden. Waterfalls of color energize your creative spirit as you meander along through raked sand gardens in the calming shade of bamboo trees. Discover the collection’s tranquil blossoms, dragonflies, lotus ponds, and geometric expressions of the harmony of nature. Good fortune and happiness await you!
Come check it out, or find our selection of Good Fortune fabric on our website)

Labeling Batting Scraps

We usually end up with a lot of batting scraps after finishing quilting. These smaller pieces are perfect to use in table runners and other small projects.
To keep them organized and easy to find, I measure the dimensions and then fold or roll the batting scrap and tie with some scrap ribbon or even selvage and place a small label with the dimensions and the type of batting (such as 100% cotton, poly, etc.). Now it's easy to find the perficet size for the project I'm working on!

If you are in need of some small batting pieces for your table runners or other small projects check out our left over batting for sale next time you're here!
