SEMINARS
If bicycles are the heart of NAHBS, its soul is the seminar series. One of the original and enduring purposes of the show is the sharing of knowledge about building bicycles. The NAHBS seminar series is unrivaled anywhere as a brain trust in the handmade bicycles industry. For enthusiasts who are looking to learn more about the fine bicycle hardware on the show floor, this is a rare opportunity. Read below for short summaries of the sessions.

Friday (Feb 22)

TIG WELDING THEORIES, TIPS AND MAGIC TRICKS FOR BICYCLE FABRICATION
Eric Baar (professional bicycle framebuilder since 1999) from Ground Up Designs will be sharing his ideas on making the job easier.  This is for all skill levels.
Time: 1:00pm-1:45pm

BIKE BUILDING - BUSINESS BASICS
Small companies will be shown simple ideas on setting up a business in such a way as to reduce the likelihood of problems down the line, and with reduced insurance costs. With Lora Van Dixhorn (President of Westlake Insurance).

SO YOU WANT TO MOUNT DECALS?
Gary Prange of Screen Specialty Shop, Inc. discusses the various forms of decals and what works best for a range of applications.  This seminar also discusses the possibilities and pitfalls when builders brand their frames.

Saturday (FEB 23)

FITTING WITH THE CALFEE SIZER
Craig Calfee (Calfee Design) will demonstrate how the Calfee Sizer can be used with any fitting system to achieve perfect fit. The Sizer cycle is a hyper adjustable fitting tool that can adjust while a person is pedaling which allows the fitter to literally dial in the top tube length to find the best comfort spot that can be elusive with other fitting systems.

HIGH PERFORMANCE TITANIUM
With more than 20 years of titanium experience, Butch Boucher of Moots will be covering topics ranging from how titanium has evolved over the years in the bicycle industry, where titanium is today and as well as the philosophies, principles and techniques Moots adheres to in designing and building their frames.

REYNOLDS - STAINLESS STEEL TUBING DEVELOPMENT FOR 2013
Keith Noronha, who has been heavily involved with product development for Reynolds Technology over the last 20 years, will highlight the recent additions to the Reynolds product list - discussing the advantages and limitations on stainless steel tubing. There will be a Q&A session, where Reynolds will also be very interested in builder and rider feedback.

WHEELS MAKE ALL OF THIS POSSIBLE
Ric Hjertberg (Wheel Fanatyk), founder of Mad Fiber and representative of Ghisallo wood rims, will be presenting an example-packed survey of the contemporary wheel scene with particular attention to the historic and artistic topics that so heavily affect the hand built bicycle with a story to tell.

THE WHOLE BIKE... THE ART AND CRAFT OF BICYCLE SYSTEM DESIGN
Come have a discussion with Tom Ritchey! He is a former national level racer, passionate rider and resourceful product designer with a unique, common sense approach to building the best road and mountain components available.

CARBON FIBER: LAYING DOWN THE BASICS
Come learn the basics of composite materials and how carbon fiber is used in building bicycles with special attention to design considerations, material choice and manufacturing methods with an emphasis on tube to tube construction with Matt Appleman (Appleman Bicycles).

Sunday (FEB 24)

PROFESSIONAL FRAME BUILDING - HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN
Partners both in business and life, Kent Eriksen (Kent Eriksen Cycles) and Katie Lindquist will deliver a "how to" presentation on what it takes to start, maintain and participate in the frame building business.

BIKECAD-EMY
Come to this seminar to learn what new features are being planned for BikeCAD and to suggest ideas of your own. Brent Curry, developer of BikeCAD and BikeCAD Pro, will give an overview of BikeCAD's basic functionality.

TOOLING AROUND
Don Ferris (Anvil Bikeworks) will share his experience and knowledge in framebuilding, machine shop practices and tool manufacture with a special emphasis on design, modularity and metrology. Don has been a leading supplier of framebuilding tools and fixtures to the bicycle industry since 1999.

It's official! All the exhibitor booths are FULL! A record breaking 199 exhibitors are coming from all over to showcase their creations! 'All over' would be 25 different states in the USA and five foreign countries, namely: Canada, Czech Republic, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Accommodations at NAHBS
The NAHBS room block at the Crowne Plaza is full. As of Friday 31 January a room block at the Hilton Garden Inn will open up. This hotel is directly across the road from the Colorado Convention Center. To get the NAHBS rate of $129, book through our website and look for the Hilton Garden Inn link, which will be live as of Jan. 31.
NAHBS Mobile App
This year we will have a mobile app. instead of a paper guide. With features such as interactive floor maps, brief exhibitor bios, attendee photo galleries and calendar reminders, it works on Android and iOS, so bring your smartphone to enhance your NAHBS experience. It will be ready for download on February 21.
