The FBI is holding a seminar for Charlotte’s Web students to learn more about their agency and its purpose. They will cover three topics; violent crime, online safety and gangs. They will do presentations TODAY March 6 and March 11.

We are pleased to announce the official launching of the pilot phase of the
Nationally Competitive Scholarships/Fellowships Program (NCSF).
The Through the Looking Glass Competition is designed to identify students who demonstrate an interest in improving their skills in Thinking, Writing, and Speaking at a high level of discourse that will allow them to compete successfully with students at other notable institutions for coveted scholarships and fellowships.

The first application engagements will begin in the Fall 2014.
Training will begin this semester and through the summer, as students look at
The Fulbright Scholarship Program, The Luard Scholarship Program, The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Program, The UNCF Mellon Mays Scholarship Program (funding through the Ph.D. degree), The Barry Goldwater Scholarship, The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Program, and
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship Program, among others.

FAFSA Blitz Week
The Office of Student Financial Aid will host a series of “FAFSA Days” which will allow students the opportunity to get assistance with completing the 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial Aid is awarded on a first come, first service basis so having your FAFSA completed by our priority filing date March 15 will increase your chances of receiving the maximum amount.
Financial Aid Counselors will be available in Duke Library, Rm 213 on

JCSU Communication Arts students Ashley B. Mallory, graduating senior, Kyla Brown, junior, and Dr. Marsha I. Walker, Chapter Sponsor & Assistant Professor of English, represented the Xi Lambda Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta International English Society at the 90th Anniversary International Convention in Savannah, Georgia, February 26-March 1, 2014. They presented their current research in a roundtable discussion entitled “When Rivers Run Dry—New Media Impact on Youth Literatures.”

You are invited to attend the Charlotte Law Review’s 8th Annual Symposium, Locked and Loaded: The Debate on the Second Amendment and Gun Control on Friday, March 7

This program includes a scholarly debate on the Second Amendment with regard to gun control and gun rights, a seminar on the laws of self-defense and how these laws have been applied in recent court cases, and a practical discussion from attorneys, politicians, and political activists on the effects of certain gun regulations for their clients and communities.
