CAMPGROUND UPDATE

Thanks to our Wagonmaster, Mike "Nomad" Levitt, we've secured the two host campgrounds for the 2013 Big O Hike!

Okeechobee KOA, a long-time favorite thanks to its central location (and pools and hot tub) will be our base camp from November 22-29. This is one of KOA's largest campgrounds with a heavy RV focus, centered around a golf course with a tiki bar overlooking the greens. Our group rate is $30 per site, with two tents or one camper/RV on a site. The Wagonmaster will arrive to check in campers after noon on Friday November 22.

Clewiston KOA, located just north of Clewiston, will keep us close to the open sections of the trail between November 29-December 1. Our group rate is $22 per site for two tents or one camper, $33 for RV sites. This is an older, more traditional campground with a heated pool, wifi, and laundry room.

As in prior years, all campsite assignments and payments will be made through our Wagonmaster, who will match tent campers up with partners to split costs. Please bring CASH or CHECK, no credit cards will be accepted.

Do not contact the campgrounds directly for reservations unless you plan to use one of their cabins: both locations have KOA Kabins, Kottages and Lodges, which you can reserve through their front office.

Prefer a motel? We'll be talking to some soon about special rates for Big O Hikers. Watch for details in the next bulletin.

ORDER YOUR T-SHIRT & GUIDEBOOK!

Shipping in late September, the annual Official Guide to the Big O Hike and the 2013 Big O Hike t-shirt can be pre-ordered now to ensure you get the size you want! A minimum donation of $7 for the guide, $20 for the shirt, or $25 for both (includes shipping) goes to the Loxahatchee Chapter of the Florida Trail Association. When you make a donation, be sure to include your shipping address (USPS, US and Canadian addresses only) and t-shirt size.

Use Paypal (credit cards accepted) to make a donation, or send a check made out to "Loxahatchee Chapter, Florida Trail Association," to Florida Hikes, PO Box 2958, Sanford FL 32772, before September 10. Sizes cannot be guaranteed after that date.

Additional guides and t-shirts will be available for shipping in late October as well as at the Big O Hike kickoff on November 23 and during the hike itself, as supplies last.
