Workshops for the first half of 2014 are now up and running. Tutors for July to November are almost finalised so keep your eyes peeled for the updated schedule

This year QSWFA are featuring workshops we know and love, AND some exciting new extras with tutors eager to share their knowledge and skills.

Karen Alpert - Knitting Lace Shawls

Places are still available for Karen Alpert's Introduction to Lace Knitting, Tuesday 11th March - 6 to 9pm

Chris Eves - Sox in the City

This workshop is being rescheduled for the second half of the year so all those knitters out there just dying to learn how to turn that heel, stay tuned for further details.

Rachel Wardrup - Handmade Paper

Rachel has been refining her paper making skills for around ten years and is excited to be taking her first QSWFA workshops teaching paper making with recycled paper on day 1 and incorporating plant fibres into the process on day 2.

Rah! Papermaking for Kids

Rachel is also taking a children's papermaking workshops. Two 3 hour workshops are being offered in the school holidays on Monday 7th April, so get in quick to book a spot. Details on the QSWFA website.

Mary Elizabeth - Basketry

 

Mary Elizabeth will be continuing her basket making workshops teaching basketry techniques using recycled papers as well as a second class in basketry with natural fibres. Materials kits will be available at $10 and $15 respectively.

Johanna Geurin - Freeform Millinery

Johanna is well known Brisbane based millinery artist, new to QSWFA and keen to share her love of fine millinery. She will be offering two separate 3 hour workshops teaching us how to make a feathered headpiece and a sculptured headpiece. Materials kits will be avialable at $30 and $40 respectively.

 

Nat Billing - Intro to Eco-dyeing

Nat Billing is a practicing artist and active member of QSWFA. This workshop always fills up very quickly so get in quick to reserve your space.

Sandra Pearce - Coptic Binding

QSWFA members need no introduction to Sandra Pearce, a practicing Brisbane artist specialising in all things paper and print making. This workshop will cover the Coptic stitch technique where students will create their own A6 journal using decorative and blank papers. Materials kit supplied by tutor at $2 plus the cost of miscellaneous papers.

Chantelle Hills - Crochet Basics

 

This workshop is designed to teach basic crochet stitches and styles, correct your technique and upgrade your skills. Chantelle has designed a lovely shawlette for this lesson. Further details will be available on the QSWFA website in the near future.

Jacqueline Damon - Seamless Perfection

Working with templates and resists and with expert guidance from Jacquie, create your own vest, lapels, collars and facings. Keep your eye on the QSWFA website for more detials.

Jolanta Szymczyk - Spanish Flowers Spring Tunic

Seamless wearable nuno felted garment, perfect for a special event, or to make a statement, unique and one-off to suit individual style and colour preferences.

Jolanta Szymczyk - Mix & Match

 

Jolanta will focus on helping you create a collection of textile accessories (brooches) in 3 different sizes to allow different visual composition and mix and max approach to suit the person’s needs.
