APRIL 30th 7:00pm Mark your calendar!

City Council will be hosting a series of three workshops for the community to discuss Lafayette’s "Housing Element", because it needs to be updated this year.

This is REALLY important. It governs how we want to handle growth in Lafayette. It becomes a written road-map that governs how we want to expand and densify 94549. These choices are clearly meaningful to our schools, our property values and our traffic downtown. Here’s the description from the State’s website:

"Housing element law, enacted in 1969, mandates that local governments adequately plan to meet the existing and projected housing needs of all economic segments of the community. The law acknowledges that, in order for the private market to adequately address housing needs and demand, local governments must adopt land use plans and regulatory systems which provide opportunities for, and do not unduly constrain, housing development."

Given the surge in growth and construction in Lafayette, this is an important time to weigh in voice your thoughts and opinions! Come one, come all!

April 30th is the first workshop of the series and it would be great if Lafayette could generate a strong turnout so that citizens can be as informed as possible about the changes we face as a community. City Council's decisions will be influenced by these workshops and will have a lasting impact on how development occurs in our downtown area for about the next 8 years, so your input is critical.

Please come to learn and weigh in. This Housing Element will be the roadmap for how Lafayette continues to grow or how we manage growth going forward.

Details are as follows:

April 30th 7:00pm

Location: Lafayette Methodist Church, Fireside Room

955 Moraga Rd

Lafayette, California 94549

Hope to see you there!
