Trillium Grant Awarded to ABCA

We're thrilled to announce that our Trillium Grant application has been approved, all $60,400! This will enable us to make upgrades to the ABC Hall which will reduce operating costs and improve visitor comfort and usability.

Replacing the heating and ventilation equipment and the hall furniture will be the first of several projects to be completed by the end of 2015.

Other projects include paving the parking lot, insulating and siding the building, purchasing multimedia equipment, replacing the sign by the road and constructing a covered entryway.

Thanks to Byron Turner, Pat Hough, Rob Boyer and David Pollard for their excellent work preparing the grant application. Well done, folks!

The Hall is Alive With
The Sound of Music

Bob Spelled Backwards, a Lanark County based band comprised of 5 members of the Sullivan family, performed to an appreciative audience at the December Bolingbroke Cafe. On May 2, brothers Noah and Japhy Sullivan return as a duo. They will be joined by Maddie Field-Green and Philip Schleihauf in the second half of the evening in a group they call Conspiracy of Sound.

These talented young musicians will be playing many original compositions. Well worth coming out for a listen!

Upcoming Events

The Slice of Life show-and-tell series will kick off on May 23 with a presentation by our own Wendy Briggs-Jude about Nature In Our Area.

On Sunday, June 8, the ABCA will be hosting a Victorian Tea at the hall, complete with harpist, hats and homemade goodies.

For a list of regular events, see: Regular Events at the ABC Hall

We hope you can join us for these fun and entertaining events. They're a great way to meet and mingle with your friends and neighbours while raising funds for the ABCA.

If you can help out in any small way, that would be much appreciated, too!

Spring has Sprung

At long last, it's beginning to look and feel a lot like spring. The days are noticeably longer and warmer, and the geese (and other snowbirds) have started to return to their northern nests.

Seems only fitting that Easter is late this year. I hope you're able to enjoy this joyous celebration of renewal with those near and dear.
