2013 Year-End Career Appraisal

With 2014 on the horizon, now is the perfect time to reflect on how your career has unfolded in 2013. Here are some simple points to consider:

Motivated Skills
Has the work I've done, and the projects on which I have been involved, allowed me to use my Motivated Skills, those things I know that I am good at, that I enjoy, and of which I feel proud?

Your Vision
Has 2013 brought me closer to, or farther away from, my long-term vision?

Your Accomplishments
What have I accomplished over the past year?

Document these achievements as CAR stories: Context/Challenge-Action-Result. Ask yourself, in 2013 what challenges did I face, and in what context? What did I do to address these challenges on my own or as part of a team? What was the business impact of those efforts?

New Skills
What new skills did I acquire? What did I learn in 2013 that will help me be a more effective and efficient contributor in 2013?

Network Development
Were my networking efforts as good as I know they can be? With which members of my network did I not do a good job of staying in touch? How can I do better in 2014?

Who contributed to or supported my successes? How can I recognize or thank them?

Missing Pieces
What was missing for me in 2013 and how can I integrate these missing pieces into 2014?
