Happy spring everyone!

As you will see from this newsletter, we have lots happening and encourage you to get involved.

Over the years we have spoken to our businesses partners and passionate public who support our events. We are now working harder towards establishing initiatives which benefit both consumers and businesses alike. This year we have introduced a number of new initiatives which I think you will find extremely useful. We are very proud that this year we have launched the 1st Ethical Enterprise Conference. The caliber of speakers and the diversity of topics on offer during this one-day conference is testament of the work we have done over the years and the diversity of passionate and knowledgeable professionals who represent the ethical and social business sector.

Our business membership program is also new this year and is growing quickly. We are encouraged by the growth of this membership program, as it grows further will hope to offer many exciting opportunities to assist the growth of your business.

We are also very proud to be launching our Fair Christmas e-catalogue. We will offer a series of product catalogues, which not only promotes ethical products to consumers, but also the ethical story behind the product. We believe every ethical product has a story to tell.

We hope that you will join us in this journey of growth and greater awareness of conscious enterprise in Australia.

To finish off, we have extended the deadline of the Ethical Enterprise Award to the 7th of October and don’t forget Fair@Square is not far away. So, if you are an ethical business, this is a fantastic opportunity to engage with thousands of conscious and curious visitors.

Launching The Design for Good Exhibition at Fair@Square in 2014

The Design for Good exhibition is an exciting new venture at this year's Fair@Square. Step through the doors of a shipping container to enter a home displaying some of todays innovative products and design concepts. See how socially-responsive design can shape our world sustainably, and be inspired about the innovations that are making a difference to people all around the world.
Through a collaboration with Interface Constructions, FutureKind, and RMIT's Design Action Program, eleven talented students from Industrial, Visual Merchandising and Visual Communication are helping to create this free, public and interactive exhibition. Plans are already underway, and we can't wait to share more progress with you as it happens!

Professor Yunus has established more than 50 social business companies in Bangladesh, been awarded more than 50 honorary degrees from 20 countries and 112 awards from 26 countries. He also serves on the board of many national and international organisations. He is the author of two New York Times bestsellers and was named by Fortune Magazine as 'one of 12 greatest entrepreneurs of our time'. Professor Yunus and Grameen Bank were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for their efforts to lift people out of poverty.

Bomb scarps into jewellery

As the official Australian ambassador for the PeaceBOMB project we will showcase the beautiful pieces of Jewellery from Article 22, PeaceBOMB, where artisans from Laos transform bombs and war scrap to jewellery. Taking a constructive approach toward the destruction wrought by war. Each piece supports artisan livelihoods, village development, and de-mining in Laos.

Behind the Green Door are very excited to be taking part in our first Fair@Square event. We see this event as a offering a great opportunity to promote fair trade and socially conscious consumerism and we look forward to meeting other ethically minded businesses.
