Holly Schneider, the owner and inspiration behind Studio Grand at 3234 Grand, passed away this past weekend at the age of 42 -- three weeks after falling ill and being diagnosed with a rare cancer.
Her amazingly popular art space (which she opened in August of last year) hosts a music program for toddlers, concerts, art classes, poetry readings and art exhibits which were showcased during the Grand Avenue First Thursdays art walk.
An artist and musician in her own right, Holly was determined to share her love of both as a music and movement specialist at Aurora School and, more recently, at Studio Grand.
She is survived by her husband, Jamie Keller and a 15 year-old son, Ari, who is also a talented musician.
An outdoor memorial celebration will be held in early June. In addition, friends have vowed to preserve Studio Grand as Holly’s living legacy and, with the assistance of volunteers, the concerts and other special events scheduled for May are continuing.
