Annual Meeting and Board/Committee Nominations Notice

The Lower East Side People’s Federal Credit Union will hold its annual meeting on June 15, 2013. Elections will not be conducted by ballot, and there will be no nominations from the floor when there is only one nominee for each position. Nominations should be submitted in writing by close of business, April 30, 2013. Nominations for vacancies may be made by petition signed by 1 percent of the members with a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 500. In all cases, such nominations must be accompanied by a signed certificate from the nominee or nominees stating that they are agreeable to nomination and will serve if elected to office. BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The following members are seeking reelection to their current positions, for terms of 2 years:

Deyanira Del Rio – Current Board President
Credit union member since 2001. Co-Director of the Neighborhood Economic Development Advocacy Project (NEDAP). She joined the board in 2002 and was elected Co-Chair in 2005, and became Chair in 2006. She also serves As Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the NFCDCU.

Brian Byfield – Current Board Member
Brian Byfield is an attorney with a small general law practice located in Spanish Harlem since 2006. His practice specializes in HDFC issues, among others. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Georgetown University Law Center. He was appointed to the LESPFCU Board in 2011.

Sarah Hogarth – Current Board Member
Sarah Hogarth is a social and economic justice activist. A LES resident for 25 years, she joined the credit union shortly after our chartering in 1986. She holds a post-graduate diploma in International Law and Social Justice from the University of London. Sarah was appointed to the LESPFCU Board in 2012.

Linda Levy – Current Board Member and CEO
Credit Union member since 1986. Served as the first manager of the Credit Union from 1986-1991. Served on the Board 1991-1999, and re-elected in 2004. She has been CEO since 2005.

The following member was appointed by the Board over the last 12 months and is running for election for a two year term.

Cheyenna Weber
She is currently the Director of Coalition Organizing and Campaigns for the New Economics Institute and a founding member of SolidarityNYC.

The following member was appointed by the Board over the last 12 months and is running for election for a one year term.

Pia Longarini
Pia is a Technical Assistance Coordinator at Seedco Financial Services, Inc. She has a history of collaboration with both staff and Board members of LESPFCU in small business lending. Most recently she has been working with small businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy. She became a member of the credit union in 2013.

CREDIT COMMITTEE

The following member is seeking re-election to his current position, for a term of 2 years:

Ryan Smith – Current Committee Member
Ryan has served on the LESPFCU Credit Committee since August 2005. He is a Vice President at Credit Suisse, where he specializes in private equity investments.

The following member was appointed by the Board over the last 12 months and is running for election for a two year term.

Monica Guevara
Monica brings her business lending experience to the Credit Committee. She has been working at the Business Outreach Center (BOC) NetworkBOC Capital since 2007. She currently holds the position of Microloan Management System Manager. She joined the credit union in 2013.
