Edition No. 3: December 2012

Hello to you all!

Are you ready for the silly season? In our house it's mildly chaotic, as we try to contain our three year old's great excitement as Christmas draws near.

We've also been counting down to Shallow Breath's release date, and IT'S FINALLY HERE! If you're in Australia, you should now be able to find it in your local bookstore, or online. I really hope you like the story.

Read the first pages of Shallow Breath

If you'd like a teaser, the first few pages of Shallow Breath are up on Scribd right now, and will be there for the whole of December.

What's more, you can still read a sample of the US edition of Beneath the Shadows, which was published by Bantam in June 2012.

There are just a few days left until the official launch party for Shallow Breath in Perth, on 5 December at Tiger Lils, 437 Murray St, from 6.30 - 8.30 pm. While the official RSVP date has passed, if you'd still like to come then email me at sara@sarafoster.com.au.

There are 2 more Perth events happening prior to Christmas:

12th December I'll be at Inglewood Library (in conjunction with Dymocks Morley). Bookings are essential, through Inglewood Library on 9205 7700 or Dymocks Morley on 08 9276 7500 (morley@dymocks.com.au).
20th December I'll be at Dymocks Garden City signing books from 5pm.

Do come along and say hello. If you can't get to these then there are more events planned for 2013. Check my website's Events page for more information.

There's more to the story...

My VERY clever brother-in-law came up with this trailer for Shallow Breath. I'm very lucky to have such talented family to help me out!

On my YouTube feed you'll also find a trailer for Beneath the Shadows, and a 'behind the book' short film too.

Shallow Breath animals - web small

Once you've read Shallow Breath, please do take a look at the 'behind the book' website at www.shallowbreath.com, where you'll find lots more background to the story.

As part of Shallow Breath's release, Random House is planning to send me on a review blog tour! If you have a blog and you'd like to interview me, please send your expression of interest to my publicist Kirsty Noffke - knoffke@randomhouse.com.au. Please also include details about your blog.

I have already visited Nicole Alexander's blog to talk about the research I did for the book, and I've written a piece about how I planned the story for the Random House blog, which will be up very soon.

More e-book editions coming soon

My agent and I have been working hard at getting e-book editions of Shallow Breath and Come Back to Me available worldwide on Kindle. We're hoping this process will be completed by Christmas. When it is, I will post details on my facebook and twitter accounts, and on my website. Be aware that they will have brand-new e-book covers too!

Early support for Shallow Breath

I've had some really wonderful support for my new book from conservation groups, including The Orangutan Project, IFAW and Sea Shepherd. Ten per cent of Shallow Breath's royalties will go to conservation charities. I love this picture, featuring Sea Shepherd's Australian Director Jeff Hansen and Captain Peter Hammarstedt. You can find out more about all these charities on the Shallow Breath website.

Looking ahead

On my wish list for next year: lots of time with family, lots of time to read, and lots of time to write. Book 4 is already coming together in my mind, and Books 5 & 6! I also hope to get back to putting up more Book Loves on my website. I haven't had much time for reading lately, but I love finding great stories and sharing them. I recently spotted that one of my all-time favourite authors Maggie O'Farrell has a book out early next year, so I'll definitely be chasing that one down.

I hope to have lots more to tell you in 2013. Meanwhile, I wish you a wonderful Christmas and New Year, and many hours of great reading.
