The Magen David , usualy translated as the Star of David, is, in actuality, the "Shield of David".
The Magen David is based on the concept of two triangles. One points towards the Heavens and one points downwards to the earth. This is to symbolize the relationship between G-d and man; the essence of Divine protection.
"He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection..." (Samuel II 22:31)

SH2 Watchmen on the Walls ( Isaiah 62:6) $55
This pendant , hand crafted by Boaz , a Jerusalem jeweller, to represent this powerful verse from Isaiah .is made of sterling silver (925). The silver frames a vibrant opal.
“ On your walls, O Jerusalem, I have appointed watchmen; all day and all night, they shall never be silent; those who remind the Lord, be not silent. And give Him no rest, until He establishes and until He makes Jerusalem a praise in the land.”( Isaiah 62:6-7)
This piece was created by our jeweler, Boaz Ben Chaim and it represents the pomegranate, one of the seven species the land of Israel was blessed with.( Devarim/Deuteronomy 8:8).
"For HaShem your G-d is bringing you to a good land, a land with brooks of water, fountains and depths, that emerge in valleys and mountains, a land of wheat and barley, vines and figs and pomegranates, a land of oil producing olives and honey,( Deuteronomy 8:7-8)"
This fruit is made up of mostly seeds and very little pulp. Pulp protects and nourishes the fruit, the seeds however are about future blessing. This fruit therefore has become in our tradition ,a symbol of blessings and of giving without the concern for personal gain.
We at shorashim spent almost four years looking for the piece that would best represent this powerful verse.
" but whose delight is in the word of HaShem ( The Lord) and who contemplate His word day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers( Psalm 1:2-3)
by Boaz ben Yehuda
