It’s Time for Marriage in Hawaii

"We’re proud to announce the formation of Hawaii United for Marriage — an unprecedented coalition of organizations, leaders, and passionate Hawaii residents who are committed to securing the freedom to marry in 2013.

We support legislation that recognizes marriage for same-sex couples, applies provisions of the marriage law equally to same-sex couples and opposite-sex couples and protects clergy and religious institutions who refuse to recognize or solemnize marriage of same-sex couples.

In the coming months, same-sex couples, their families, straight allies, Democrats, Republicans, labor leaders, people of faith, and more members of our diverse coalition will unite to make the case to Hawaii lawmakers that now is the time for marriage equality.

Revolutions Per Minute Front Cover

Emma's Revolution

"Boasting gorgeous close harmonies and unsinkable tunefulness, Emma’s Revolution (the Emma is Goldman) is a classic, globetrotting folk duo comprised of activist singer/songwriters Sandy O and Pat Humphries. Their music is progressive, socially-conscious, confrontational and shot-through with intelligence and cutting humor. Newest disc 'Revolutions Per Minute' is a front-to-back gem." ~Iowa City Press-Citizen

Smart, funny and informative--like Rachel Maddow and Jon Stewart with guitars. Emma's Revolution is the duo of award-winning activist musicians, Pat Humphries & Sandy O. Called “inspiring, gusty and rockin’”, emma's revolution' songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger and covered by Holly Near. The duo's awards include Grand Prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the Washington Area Music Association's Fan Favorite Award.

"Revolutions Per Minute" is Emma's Revolution's third and latest recording.

side-of-love

Emma's Revolution's songs were featured in the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of Maryland's videos, "Why We Stand: Voices of Faith, Conviction and Love!" and "Maryland Clergy Standing on the Side of Love". The latter was distributed to each senator and delegate in the Maryland General Assembly. Marriage equality was passed by the Maryland General Assembly in spring 2012 and was approved by voter referendum, making Maryland one of four states--with WA, MN and ME--to approve marriage equality in an historic sweep on Election Day 2012.
