Remains of a Roman winery have been found at the site of the Domaine Faillenc Sainte Marie, a testament to the ancient tradition of winegrowing at that location. The domaine, in its present form, was founded during the reign of Louis XIV. Faillenc Sainte Marie is a small property, with only eight hectares of vineyards stubbornly clinging to the rocky, wind-battered foothills of Mont Alaric.

Like so many of our wines, this one is made by a quirky, hard-working family with a lot of personality: Dominique and Marie-Therese Gilbert, along with their son Jean-Baptiste, tend the vineyards and run the winery. Very little white wine is made in Corbieres, and this wine is quite unusual. A blend of Roussanne, Macabeu, Bourboulenc, and Clairette, this is a pretty wine with honey on the nose and apricot on the palate, but quite dry. Round and rich, the Roussanne really shines through this blend of unusual grapes with its plush texture. And if that isn't enough, it is also an extremely good value!

So please join us this Saturday, September 29th from 2pm-6pm and give Marie a try. Have a great weekend!
