Power to Save

There have been stories reported from around the world where women have rescued someone trapped under a car. Instead of screaming and panicking, the woman lifts the car off of the ground, so that the person that is trapped can get out. Psychologists attest to the fact that when placed in an emergency situation, our entire body kicks in and causes us to display superhuman qualities. On the other hand, you can walk outside right now and attempt to lift your car off of the ground, but you may find that your efforts will prove unsuccessful. You can’t lift it in your own strength. Why? Because there is no danger present that requires it. Your body knows when to kick into gear and become superhuman. Our spiritual life in Christ operates the same way. If you find yourself going about your everyday life expecting to display great strength and power, you probably won’t see it. It’s only experienced when we step out in faith to free those who are oppressed, bound by sin, gripped with fear, or those stricken with sickness and disease. When we rush to their aid, we activate the power of God within us to set them free!

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father." John 14:12 (KJV)

Father God,

Thank You for empowering me to do what I can’t do in my own strength. I love You, and I love seeing You work through me to rescue others. I pray my spiritual eyes stay open and alert to the needs of those around me. You saw my need, and You came running to save me. Help me do the same for others by Your strength and power. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
